RE: Minish Cap project - Vipershark - 08-29-2010

nice link edit for ralph

RE: Minish Cap project - StarSock64 - 08-29-2010

pretty sure that's actually more of a vaati edit~

but yeah it's too noticeable so you should fix that.

RE: Minish Cap project - tsvlink25 - 08-29-2010

Sorry..meant to say that Ralph was also a W.I.P. I still need help with him....
And, yeah. I edited him from Vatii. I mainly used that as a base, and then I was gonna change it up some more once I did most of the sheet. Ex: the hair colors. I'm trying to make it a BIT more custom though.

RE: Minish Cap project - StarSock64 - 08-30-2010

Could you upload a picture of him 'cause I dunno what he's supposed to look like

also sorry to say but realistically, this section of the forum doesn't get much activity anymore so you'd have to do some serious work to get people motivated to participate. Probably, anyway.

RE: Minish Cap project - tsvlink25 - 08-30-2010

Um...You can find his image on Zelda Wiki......But yeah, I would like to get more work done. I really need help with Cremia though. And I was supposed to start this project with D.Moffet.....but uh.....Here is Ralph's picture anyway:

RE: Minish Cap project - StarSock64 - 08-30-2010

In regards to Cremia, I don't think even adult characters generally get that tall in MC? I know you want to make a clear difference between her and Malon but it might be too much, I'm not sure. Among the choices I'd probably go with something more like d or e.

Ralph's hair could be better, and his hat should probably eventually get a different shape.

It might benefit your art more if you step away from the edits and try something a little more challenging. It could even make the rest of what you do easier if you take that step up.

I wouldn't mind taking a crack at this but I feel like I'll just mess this up because it's not a style I'm very familiar with spriting in. Who knows, though

RE: Minish Cap project - tsvlink25 - 08-30-2010

Ok. Ill try that with Ralph. Ill try that with Cremia. Yeah, I actually wanna try to make her a tad shorter. Actually, I've done a few custom M&L3 stuff, but I didnt come out the best. My avatar is one example......

RE: Minish Cap project - Gors - 08-31-2010

*sees avatar*

you know, scrap this project for a while

You mainly need to get your pixel abilities in shape; there's no way you're going to finish this in the way you are. Work on custom sprites (it doesn't even need to be Minish Cap styled; the more styles you mimic, the better. This way you can start 'collecting' different techniques from the sprites). I'm not saying to discourage you, but rather guiding you.

Right now, looks like you're trying to write a book without knowing the letters. Everything has their order Smile

RE: Minish Cap project - tsvlink25 - 08-31-2010

Really? Hrm...I find that to be great advice! Thanks! And I also think thats a good idea. I mean, these sprites I have are a bit old...and I HAVE gotten into M&L3 spriting, and I'm not as terrible as I was a while back. So wait, your basically saying that I should try spriting other custom stuff for a while? Like M&L3 and other styles for now, just to know all of this better?

RE: Minish Cap project - StarSock64 - 08-31-2010

That's right! (((speaks for gorsal))) Personally I'm more into developing my skills than trying to get out any sort of real productions, but it's also necessary if you still have some basics to work on. You could post on sprite discussion (if you go in that section don't expect all kind people though) without worrying about making huge finished projects until you're a little more ready. It's a great investment for the long term~

RE: Minish Cap project - tsvlink25 - 08-31-2010

Thanks! Yeah, I know what you mean about Sprite Discussion...but yeah, I dont think I'm gonna have this locked...Ill probably leave it open so I can bring it back, or should I just start a new one later?

RE: Minish Cap project - StarSock64 - 08-31-2010

Pretty sure you can leave it open and then use it again later, as long as you have content to update with. If you have trouble finding it in the future you can use the search option

Anyway, whatever they say in sprite discussion is for your own good. It might wear you down and make you want to give up, but if you can perservere and keep going at it then you can really improve. Just keep those rules in mind and don't have a defensive attitude. Try to remember that what they say only means you have room to improve, which is normal and nothing to get discouraged about

RE: Minish Cap project - Gors - 08-31-2010

Do you know? I'm going to close this so people won't necropost here. Whenever you feel ready to tackle this project down, send me a PM so I'll reopen it.
