TUGSTEEOTSRSIWC - Preliminary Round - triptych - 09-02-2010

Welcome everyone, to The Ultimate Greatest Spriter To Ever Exist On The Spriters Resource Since It Was Created!

I want to enter but didn't get a chance to post in the last thread!
Don't worry, as long as you complete this challenge before the due date you'll be considered a part of this tournament.

Great! What do I need to do?
To enter the competition, all you need to do is complete the three tasks contained in the image below. (Note: You MUST do all 3)

Task 1: The first task involves a greyscaled sprite. You must color this to tbe best of your ability

Task 2: Pick ONE pokemon sprite and proceed to shade and texture it.

Task 3: Create a lineart of the Masked Man from Mother 3. It doesn't have to be a full body lineart, but it must be of him. Do not exceed 200x200, and NO TRACING

Also, if you can, it'd be nice to get a small 40x40 icon to represent you in The Big Bracket Image as well.

All entries will be due on September 11th 6th sometime next week 9th.

Assignment 1# confuses me a slight bit, are we allowed to increase/decrease the palette ? Also: are the lines "hard" a.k.a are you allowed to colour certain parts of the line, but not others?

For challenge 1 you're allowed to change the amount of colors to the sprite (kind of), so long as you don't alter the shading at all.

So your shaded version might have more/less colors than the greyscaled version of the sprite, but the shading shouldn't be any different.
You can shade the lines as well but it's mostly a judge of your palette choosing abilities, so ____

I approve of this competition. I never enter sprite competitions because I'm not great at spriting, but the tiers here are a really great idea, so I thought I'd have a shot. Neoriceisgood's entry completely outstrips this in every way.
