Texture Editing Help? - [robo9] - 12-01-2010

I think this is the right place to post this, sicne this kinda has something to do with models and such. Ive been trying to mod Brawl, and the first thign I wanted to do was put my ref in. I wanted to start with texture editing before starting with PSA, and Ive been using Brawl Box. After replacing the texture files in Brawl Box, the model preview looks like this:
But ingame looks like this: Any advice on whats causing it to do that, and how to fix it?
I tried posting this on Smash Boards, but without much clear help so I thought someone could help here.

Well the reason those red lights have black boxes around them is because they lack transparency. If you edited them with paint or some other program that doesn't support transparency then that's why. As for the funky UV mapping ingame, I really can't say why it would do that if it looks fine in Brawl Box preview. You may want to search Google or something for information on editing his textures since it seems like an issue that a lot of people would have come across. I'd help you there, but I haven't ever messed around with editing the fighting wireframe or whatever the heck its called for Brawl.

I'm gonna guess that it's probably just a shader based issue not the texture. That's how they pull off the whole shiny metal look.

Actually that's a good point Zerox. The texture is probably laid on as a reflection map which would make the odd looking texturing make perfect sense. I think there's a way to change it to a normal shader since people have made metal shaders like that for a Metal Sonic mod I saw, but you'd have to look around.

Okay thanks. Hopefully when I'm ungrounded and able to use a full computer instead of the iPod I have been using, I'll try to mod the shader.
