Zombie Pirate LeChuck - Alex IDV - 01-17-2011 I'd really appreciate it if you guys would give me some C&C on this! Obviously a WIP - I will, of course, make feet, hands, hair, another arm, and possibly a sword or a voodoo doll or something for him to hold. I believe there are some anatomy issues, especially with his legs, and I'm almost certain that there are a lot of problems with the shading. So yeah, please tell me what I did right and what I need to fix. RE: Zombie Pirate LeChuck - Chris2Balls [:B] - 01-17-2011 it's not bad at all at first glance! RE: Zombie Pirate LeChuck - brandman1996 - 01-17-2011 Look's pretty good! Go ahead and finish it. Though I may suggest a slightly lighter palette, but it's current one kinda goes with the whole undead theme.... RE: Zombie Pirate LeChuck - DioShiba - 01-19-2011 Not bad, but the pants on him seem to be pillow shaded. I thought they were kind of fishy looking I'll try to fix that tomorrow. RE: Zombie Pirate LeChuck - Alex IDV - 01-21-2011 Not really happy with his feet, and the shading on his legs. I've never sprited a sword before, and I can't really say I like it. Some help (redlines, edits, good ol' textual explanations) would be appreciated. EDIT: His right leg's shape seems off, too. RE: Zombie Pirate LeChuck - x0_000 - 01-21-2011 Try using the shading to bring out the shape of the knees, it will help make the legs not look noodle like. The outline is loose (it might be the style you're going for?) so here's an edit to give you some ideas with it: I messed up the leg on the right but hopefully it gives you the right idea! Also, I noticed your third shade of brown is really dark. So dark, in fact, that it's difficult to distinguish from the black. You might want to bring up some contrast between the two or ditch the black and save colors. RE: Zombie Pirate LeChuck - Alex IDV - 01-21-2011 Got it. Hopefully My intention was to make something that is more-or-less like your edit, but limbs aren't really what I'm best at. I'll see what I can do with the third shade of brown, too. It IS pretty dark, isn't it? Also, just out of curiousity, why did you mirror the sprite? Is it easier for you to sprite things that are turned to the left, or something like that? So, thanks a lot. Have a nice day! RE: Zombie Pirate LeChuck - x0_000 - 01-21-2011 Oh, I tend to mirror things a lot when I work. Looking at something familiar mirrored brings out flaws I don't notice immediately, so now it's become a habit to do it a lot! RE: Zombie Pirate LeChuck - Alex IDV - 01-21-2011 Ah, yes, that "old trick"! I use it a lot when I'm drawing, but have for whatever reason not done it when spriting. I should probably make it into a habit too! RE: Zombie Pirate LeChuck - Alex IDV - 01-21-2011 Is this correct? I think that his right leg (and foot) is a bit wonky still, but I'm not sure. I think it's better than before, though. RE: Zombie Pirate LeChuck - Alex IDV - 01-22-2011 Didn't want to bump the thread with NO new content, so I tried to make a little voodoo doll (held in his hand). LeChuck himself is unchanged since my last post. RE: Zombie Pirate LeChuck - Alex - 01-23-2011 Something that bothers me a little bit about the sprite is that the light source seems inconsistent on the beard. Also, the red's darker shade seems a bit too dark in comparison to the lighter shade in my opinion. Overall, it's looking pretty good. |
