[Recruiting][Paid?]The Quietus Project - water dog - 01-28-2011

Terra Incognita; a planet roughly the size of Pluto. The planet is inhabited scarcely by a low comparatively low variety of animals, including humans. All life seems to be sustained by artificial means, but traces of natural existence are present. It is not, in this world, a curse brought upon by it's own people to live in the shadow of the giant mechanical shell surrounding the planets atmosphere, but almost a blessing given to them by a savior alien race. History books as, as far back as history has been recorded, tell a tale of a meeting with a friendly race of extraterrestrials that, in the planets best interest, enclosed the tiny planetoid in the mechanical shell. Terra Incognita, now the sanctuary planet, save and sheltered from a supposed intergalactic war. For as long as anyone can remember, even ghosts of the past, the shell has been there.

It is no trouble, the shell provides enriched oxygen, artificial sunlight, healthy atmosphere. Almost all atmospherical issues have been defused. No one has seen beyond the shell, the world leaders do not allow it. All science programs are government funded and the skies are heavily policed. Why would anyone want to know what is beyond?

Terra Incognita is not a planet of savages, or corrupt rule. Life is very comfortable. Poverty rates are almost non existent and the social balance seems to be just that-- very balanced. The planet is small and maintains a proportionate population. Few key cities exist with even fewer traces of natural land left. [To be continued..]

Ok, so, I'm terrible at writing. I bet all that sounds very cheesy and like a load of horse doop BUT, that's why I am looking for writers.

This is my new secret project, though it is not a long shot from my last one. I wont reveal any details here because I want to keep it under wraps, but I am going to be pushing to get my own password protected subforum here where my staff and I will gather to knock heads.

This is a recruitment thread and I do plan on generating some sort of monetary reward for those who help me, whether it be form eventual game sales or out of my own pocket. The positions I am currently looking for are:

Writers
Story Developers
Character Developers
Character Designers
Mechanic Designers

More information on all positions will come at request. Please post in this thread (DO NOT PM ME) if you are GENUINELY interested and would like to help. Quality control is on as it will be a paid venture (maybe not on a fullscale salary thing here, I'm not made of money). If you wish to help simply out of hobby, that would be infinitely appreciated and I will accept all levels of quality when it comes to volunteer work.

When you have posted that you are interested in this thread, I will send you a PM with the details.

I could be of some writing assistance. If you need some input on design elements, I'd be more than willing to do that too.

Beginning character design. The beta rules are done, we just need them in a formal writing. So far I am still the lone member on this team, but I will still refer to "us" as "we."

Hope to release a set of 90-?? cards in which to build decks with-- would love to have beta testers play it with friends, themselves, over the internet. ANYTHING. Hopefully a printable list of cards (without artwork, sadly) will be avaliable but we will have to see.

Oddly enough, story is the least developed part of this project right now and I am finding many snags in keeping the characters, card game, lore, and plot consistent. I'm finding it's becomign more of a sci-fi- fanatasy space opera than I would have liked but I like where it is going.

The basic game mechanics after the first long intorduction/tournament will end up being somehting more or less like Mass Effect (in which you are in a ship with your crew and can interact with them, then go on missions).
What I REALLY am in dire need of right now is card deisgners, character deisgners (not artists-- deisgners), and possibly concept artists. And maybe a writer for a small single task.

Looks interesting from what you've posted. I'm assuming that this is a card game?

RE: [Recruiting][Paid?]The Quietus Project - water dog - 02-18-2011

Yes. To elaborate, it's a "dating"/"life" sim a la Mass Effect or Persona. The mechs in the game are piloted by playing cards on a panel inside -- a foreign technology not created by man but founded by man. The cards are created from ones memories through "memospheres."

A little bit of lore for those interested; the man who found the technology found 20 mechs all together and all seemed to be unique in some way. The first card ever created by man was a memory of the founder's daughters death due to cancer. Man has since then figured out how to mass produce mediocre versions of the mechs and the cards and with a lot of backing can even produce more powerful ones. Out of the original 20 mechs, only 9 remain. The other 11 were dismembered in an attempt to reverse engineer the processes of how they work but they never came up with anything concrete. They stopped at 9 because there were 9 lead scientists on the project, and each one of the mechs were dedicated to a member on the team. Of these 9 mechs is the Quietus.

Man now uses this technology to wage most if not all wars.
