Walking. - thernz - 02-19-2011 This is for an adventure game. What do you think? I'm not really sure how to describe what I was aiming for. A casual walk with a bit of mental forcefulness in it? There's also this very early WIP jump animation that I made have 3 warm-up frames for some bizarre reason. edit: added more bounce to hair top. i should probably just rid of any sort of head tilting. RE: Walking. - Medevenx - 02-19-2011 Sooyoung! I think her hair feels a bit flat on top. I really like it, although I'm not sure if the angles of the head and body match. RE: Walking. - GrooveMan.exe - 02-19-2011 Both walk cycles look natural, but that second one shows a level of forcefulness to it, I think. And yeah, the top of her head is pretty flat. Sweet otherwise~ RE: Walking. - Chris2Balls [:B] - 02-19-2011 i love that jump animation, it's great! as for the walking animation... i think that the farthest leg's articulation in the animation, and the way it moves when your character walks, seems unnatural: i've noticed it move forwards whilst staying vertical, whereas one usually flexes out the leg when making a step forward. i've also observed how far back it went, and that too caught my eye since it seems to get longer. i don't have any program that'd allow me to a quick edit to solve this problem but i don't. i'll look for one in the meantime, but i hope you understand what i'm talking about, and if you agree with me, solve this problem! I really like the character's design. And yeah... flat top RE: Walking. - CeeY - 02-19-2011 Nice walking animation. I want to see what more you can make of this. RE: Walking. - ThePortalGuru - 02-19-2011 I have to say, if all of your character animations are this great, Thernz, this is going to be one of the most beautiful adventure games I've seen. RE: Walking. - thernz - 02-19-2011 I tried to fix the problems Chris2Balls mentioned. Not really sure if I did or not. I also tried to make the top of her hair a bit less flat, probably obscured by all the bouncing. Thanks for all the compliments too! RE: Walking. - ThePortalGuru - 02-20-2011 Dayum. I can't for the life of me find anything wrong with this version. I'm sure there are flaws, but they're so overshadowed by the beauty of the sprite that I have a hard time seeing any. RE: Walking. - Dazz - 02-20-2011 Awesome stuff, this is really great! It's often hard to get a fluid and natural looking walk cycle, so good stuff. I would have mentioned the same as C2B, but I think you've pretty much got it spot on. RE: Walking. - Chris2Balls [:B] - 02-20-2011 right i've been having problems creating the gif so pardon me if it doesn't animate well... --- RE: Walking. - thernz - 02-20-2011 Ah, okay gotcha! Does this work? RE: Walking. - Chris2Balls [:B] - 02-20-2011 it's better and it works, both legs make the same movement now. what bothers me is how much the lower leg swings forward though, considering her stride. |
