Media player bug? - Final light - 03-16-2011 So I just closed media player but the continues to loop. How do I make it stop? This has happened several times and opening media player again and closing it didn't help. It does go away if I restart the computer but I'm looking for another method. (my computer takes forever to boot). RE: Media player bug? - Chutzpar - 03-16-2011 Have you closed it completely, or just X-ed out? I think WMP keeps running unless you actually exit through its menu (it's so you can have music playing without your taskbar being cluttered) If that isn't working, bring up task manager, go to the processes tab and find its process (I THINK it's wmplayer.exe, but I haven't used media player in a while), then right click >> end process RE: Media player bug? - PatientZero - 03-16-2011 In the task manager you can also right click on the program and hit "Go To Process", if you didn't know. Sounds like the program is just locking up, if you can hear other sounds the process has frozen, if you can't get any other audio to play, your audio drivers have crashed, which is a bigger problem but fortunately way less likely. Personally I'd suggest not using WMP, there are plenty of alternative programs out there that will play whatever media it is you want to way better, Winamp, Media Player Classic, Foobar, VNC Player, and so on. RE: Media player bug? - Final light - 03-16-2011 I can't get it to stop even by stopping it's processes. I'll just use something else thanks. It probably is the driver. My graphics driver crashes a lot so it wouldn't surprise me. RE: Media player bug? - adriano gt - 03-17-2011 Try uninstalling WMP ... and then install again. But, as has been suggested here, Winamp is much better. Is faster and more lightweight. RE: Media player bug? - Dazz - 03-18-2011 I personally use Media Monkey - it's a lesser known player but offers the aspects of WMP that I like minus the processor stress, and some nicer themes. Also it's lesser known and makes me look cooler. RE: Media player bug? - PatientZero - 03-18-2011 I use Winamp with the oldschool black and green skin, because I'm so godamn retro. (Also because I use a lot of plugins for shoutcast/icecast, and it has a nice easy in-line equaliser) RE: Media player bug? - Chutzpar - 03-18-2011 (03-18-2011, 06:14 AM)Dazz Wrote: I personally use Media Monkey - it's a lesser known player but offers the aspects of WMP that I like minus the processor stress, and some nicer themes. I use MediaMonkey too! Best bros. I'm seconding the recommendation. I particularly like being able to filter files with some of the presets- it's really straightforward being able to listen to all my music without getting bits of audiobooks messed up in there, too :v |
