Punk Girl (WIP) - x0_000 - 04-17-2011 I spent most of the evening trying to get the pose right, but I feel that there's something off about the balance. The left one is what I initially sketched, but after trying to correct it it still felt off, so I flipped the right leg and it looks better? There's still an obvious problem since the boots aren't the same length. Some other stuff I noticed that I haven't gotten to fix is giving her a better figure, it's borderline between masculine and feminine to my eyes (I'm trying to correct my weaknesses with the female body so I would like to make it sexier.) The face also looks a bit manly to me. The head looks a bit large for the body, probably anime proportions. I don't know yet if I want to make it more realistic or stick with these proportions, but I can easily go with either option so this isn't an issue. Any other suggestions are also appreciated! I have drawings I made of my friend's girl characters and the bodies were so campy that my friends were like "holy shit I'm never talking to you again" so like never do that luckily for you it's nowhere near that, I just figured I'd throw it out there I see you're kind of going for a nimble pose and all (BECAUSE IT'S A GIRL) but for doing so the character doesn't seem to ...be nimble enough; like it's going on somewhere in her left knee (which is made slightly difficult due to boot) but the bigger issue which I think you've come to notice is that the weight distribution isn't really clear. She's leaning over, her right leg's extended and her hand's on her knee so there's a lot of weight being put on her leg...but her left leg doesn't really seem to be showing any reflection of the weight distribution; like properly supporting her, it just kinda looks like she's bending her leg. I'm not sure exactly how to describe this lovely phenomenon in words; my only suggestion is checking out the poses ladies are usually in in King of Fighters...for some wild reason, hand-on-leg-other-on-hip-while-while-I-lean-sexy is pretty common in KOF. Usually in that kinda pose the hips/buttocks are emphasized to make the fact obvious they're women, lol If you wanna make the face a little more feminine and ~sexy~, you'll want to emphasize youthfulness. It's pretty simple: in your current sprite you could try making the chin a little softer/rounder, and if you *want* maybe adjusting the nose or in some cases making the eyes larger; though the last one applies to eyes when drawing moreso, if you make them look too large then they'll look like ridiculous animes kawaii desu =^.^= also in terms of suggestions, if you're going for punk you might wanna shoot for body jewelry/bracelets. A Hot Topic catalog should give you the idea for modern commercial punk, lol. MY SUGGESTION!! would be a wristband or some sort of wrist garment though you seem to be going for kind of an aggressive punk moreso than party-punk so YMMV, lol but wow, hey x0; you should stick around more and maybe even pop your head in over at the IRC RE: Punk Girl (WIP) - x0_000 - 04-17-2011 Perhaps I will drop by, the last time I went it was pretty inactive. I avoided adding the details you mentioned (punk accessories) to keep it readable as a WIP for now. After sleeping on it, I think the hips just need to be angled the other way. And your comment regarding fighting sprites is true, I think I might have been subconciously inspired by Poison. Anyway, thanks for the feedback so far; I'll upload a new version as soon as I get it done! EDIT: Other than messing with the colors, I changed the hip position. RE: Punk Girl (WIP) - x0_000 - 04-18-2011 Current iteration; Added the torn fishnets and went with full length jean leg for the other leg instead of something that cut around the knee level. Also made her body bigger, increased the tilt in her torso and tried fixing the leg lengths. I'm getting there whoo~ RE: Punk Girl (WIP) - Gors - 04-18-2011 don't dither for the fishnets; at a resolution like this, they'd be well represented by a midtone. Right now the pattern looks flat and looks like her thigh is roasted. RE: Punk Girl (WIP) - Chris2Balls [:B] - 04-18-2011 hey x0_000, i thought i'd give you a hand with an edit: good job, keep it up! RE: Punk Girl (WIP) - Chutzpar - 04-18-2011 anime hair and pirate boots are tr00 punx :v I'm really unsure about the pose, honestly. It just looks really stiff and unnatural. It's reading more like a muscle stretch than... whatever it is you're going for. Also women who aren't traditionally feminine do exist. Indeed, that's kind of a big deal in the punk movement. In fact the vast majority of people of any gender don't fit into the BIG MUSCLY SEXLESS RARG SMASH EVERYTHING MEN or CURVY NUBILE PORNY MCRAZORFACE WOMEN so uh the fact that she's feminine but not "super" feminine is a good thing, because it's convincing and ultimately just more interesting. Samebodying is a stupid practice. RE: Punk Girl (WIP) - x0_000 - 04-18-2011 Of course, I agree with what you said about body types. The problem I have is that I can't do the extreme hyperfeminine body type; I get the "looks kinda manly" comments too often when it's not what I'm trying to portray, and I'd like to expand the lit of body types I can actually draw.
