Runkkula (OFFENSIVE WARNING) - Raccoon Sam - 10-27-2011 A few months ago I wanted to create a comic that challenges the traditional norms of a (web) comic by introducing absurd and abstract structure. I don't wish anyone to comment "I don't get it", because sometimes "getting it" means not getting it. Do not expect the traditional build-up, build-up, punchline-composition from all comics. Several are very open to interpretation. I came up with "Runkkula", a portmanteau of the words "Runkku" which means wanker/masturbation and "-la", which is the suffix for a place or a setting. Here are the original comics for Finnish readers. Here are all of them, translated. I apologize for the shoddy fonts in the first 19. I drew them by hand and don't have really the resources to retouch them perfectly. The 20th and the first colored strip is where I began digitalizing everything so the quality is better in every way in every strip after that. then dad left and he won customer is always right typical bunny antics .... the road is also rocky and very long and you know we could like tax it and profit the state jerry is a single dad employee of the year a two-day ticket is 60 euros I left this one untranslated on purpose.. I didn't feel like doing the job needed for it. The small note says "queue here" and the huge billboard upon the doors says "COCK LAND" i think this is one of those dad's games and besides i think this is softer concrete than usually (it actually was right there and he was serious) i was born in Tampere but when me and my parents moved to Runkkula when i was 4 or 5. it was 4 i think. can't remember but yeah i guess i manage not againnnn midsummer is the season for loving so deep 20€ fine thank you for your wisdom o guru and now it's fucktime nA.´éE K RR? R?op & where is present RE: Runkkula (OFFENSIVE WARNING) - Chutzpar - 10-27-2011 cyanide and happiness called they said you're even less funny than they are RE: Runkkula (OFFENSIVE WARNING) - Gwen - 10-27-2011 I liked a few of them a lot :C RE: Runkkula (OFFENSIVE WARNING) - Gors - 10-27-2011 (10-27-2011, 02:52 PM)Stabsinthe Wrote: cyanide and happiness called I have a question, do we need to be this harsh to convey an opinion? not joking, I am genuinely asking this RE: Runkkula (OFFENSIVE WARNING) - Raccoon Sam - 10-27-2011 I dunno, I don't want to be the one who shouts omfg it's my style, fuck, c&h didn't invent stick figures or anything, and I get that a lot, which is ironic since I really got most of my inspiration from Buttersafe and Gunshow, but I can definitely see why some people see Cyanide and Happiness in this. I don't personally like C&H too much and I'm not saying it's shit, but I don't see what you're after, Stabsinthe.. I just wanted to be original, in some way. Not necessarily in the way of how I convey things with mere imagery, but with how I try to.. like, get some kind of a message through(?) RE: Runkkula (OFFENSIVE WARNING) - Chutzpar - 10-27-2011 it's primarily stick figures relying on tired shock-humour that's pretty much cyanide and happiness' schtick really not sure how else you'd want me to phrase it gors when i genuinely can't see much salvageable. the humour's tired, the artwork is stick figures and wonky perspective comics are a medium about images and words and in these, neither are good plus it's not really experimental to do what's already been done before i mean are you really asking me to give reasonable and incisive criticism to something called wank-place RE: Runkkula (OFFENSIVE WARNING) - Gors - 10-27-2011 yeah, I know, but for some reason that felt more acidic than normal to me. Hm. Okay then, I'll end the discussion here. |
