Metroid Unleashed - FanGame in Development - Looking for Spriters - DarkWalker - 03-24-2012

This is about project Metroid Unleashed, im the leader of the Team and programmer. The project is running very good but we need more people to work with us especially with sprites. This project is really huge. We want to make new strategies of combat to the game and force the player to explore Samus's abilities of combat such as diagonally down shooting in middle air or evading enemies using the morphball, this kind of thing. The project will also have a new design and that's why we need more help with it, if you wanna become part of the Team just say and we can discuss it. Samus( Wearing the Fusion Suit) is sent to a mission in a Planet not so populated ( She lands in a jungle) to obtain informations about the detected activitie of Space Pirates there and the possible fate that they discovered a new source of Phazon, but before she goes there the Galact Federation Locks her Power Beam... and later she discovers that she was sent there to die, without a way to defend herself, then she is attacked by an animal ( a monster, enemy) and she discovers that her Metroid Teeth can be used as a Melee weapon and when she sinks her Metroid Teeth on the animal the She starts to absorb its vital energy and replace her own energy as the Metroids Do... after some minutes of this happening the Suits returns its normal form, The Varia Suit, so she obtain this new abilitie, change from Suit Form, but the 2 forms has their advantages and misadvantages, the Fusion Suit has weak shielding but can use the Metroid Teeth, the Varia Suit has better Shielding but cant use the Metroid Teeth. From this part i have to discuss with the guys how this continuation will be... until that part under here
... The Story is about the secrets of the Chozo and the space Pirate...well, the extinction of the Chozo was caused by a Traitor of the Chozo Race, that is also a Chozo that betrayed helping another Race of Inteligence living form to defeat the Chozo, then he became the commander of this Race... So the Chozo were forced to travel beyond their dimension, forced to travel to our dimension and then they started to teach technology and spread their knowledge to the other living forms... This Chozo Traitor is also one of the Four Chozo Sages, these Sages are This Traitor that acquired the Most knowledge in researches of Phazon, he mastered the secrets of Phazon (Chemistry), the other is the one Who developed Samus's Suit, "Master of Suit Technology" ( Mechanics), The other Sage is one that Mastered Biology and BioWeapon and he learned more about Metroid Behavior and much of its secrets and he also was a Good Friend of the other CHozo Sage that is master in mechanics and they shared some of their knowledge with each other, the last Sage is one Started the whole knowledge of the Chozo, but he is Dead. So reaches a part of the story that Samus discovers about the Traitor and the "Biology Sage" and as the Galact Federation is not helping her anymore she obtains help of this Sage, he explains her that the Chozo race made one laste attempt to defeat the Traitor... and only "The Son of the Chozo Race" Could handle it... and it is supposed to be Samus... They made a weapon but they Spread its parts through many places...then Samus starts a hunt to these parts... He says to her that she has what is needed to handle this weapon...
The Weapon is half with this Sage... The Omega Suit, the other parts are only pieces of the New ArmCannon... this armcannon is made by Zebetite, an element discovered on the planet Zebes by the Chozo when they lived there, this is a Metal that can create its own Materia... can regenerate... is the only that can use the ultimate gifts of the Chozo...
these gifts are the Normal beams... but ultimate... much more powerfull... All of them are hold by its Protectors... and these protectors are the same creatures from what they studied these powers... one of them is Ridley's father... the Guardian of the Ultimate Plasma Beam, this monster is in a stage of evolution that Ridley didn't reach and he is also the progenitor of its Race.... ( this one must be an ultimate battle) As the Beams are so strong they can destroy her normal armcannon so this new Zebetite Armcannon is partially destroyed but using the Omega Suit that is the source of the Zebetite armcannon's energy it just regenerate at every Shoot she fires... Also as in the Metroid Prime 3 there is the Hyper Mode... Samus will gain an ability Similar to that due to the Omega Suit...
The Omega Suit is the Fusion Between the Suit developed by the "Mechanical Sage" (the Suit that is already with Samus) and the Suit developed by the Biology... a Suit made by Metroid plasma Membrane... So this Sage activate the mechanic of the Suit that samus doesn't know to be compatible with the Metroid Membrane, but the membrane is also a living form developed by this Sage so to the Suit Gains life she needs a "Metroid Energy"... and Samus has this, remember when i said that he said to her that she had what is needed to handle the weapon... When a Metroid Dies its enerdy (soul) goes to another Metroid so it can reborn from this other metroid but if its energy goes to other living form it cannont reborn... So when the Super Metroid Died ( this metroid thought that Samus was its mother) its energy got to Samus... and as they both have this emotional bond this Metroid Cooperates with Samus, then its energy is trasnfered to the Membrane on the Omega Suit and it reborns in the Suit, so this metroid can now also comunicate with Samus.... When she gets all these pieces of the Weapon she can face the Traitor and its army in an epic battle...
Samus also discovers that The Traitor was behind the Mother Brains Failure and controled the space pirates to anihilate the Last Survivors of the Chozo race and Samus... because he knew that these remaining Chozo could be a Threat also because the Mechanic Sage was with them and because he knows that the "Son of the Chozo" (Samus) can also be a Threat to him.
While Samus gets this knowledge she then try to find a way to the galact federetion to return to her side and help her to confront the army of the Traitor... but i dunno how she is going to do that yet... you guys from newgrounds can discuss your ideas about that with me....
Tell me what you think about this base of the story...
Also i forgot to say... The Traitor have made experiences with Metroids too... with Phazon... then he accidentaly created the UnoTroid that scaped from him and travelled until the other dimension and later would be called... The Metroid Prime... and he has his own metroids with him, these metroids are different and more powerfull... So that fate and the Omega Suit is the base for the idea o f the name of the Game... Metroid Unleashed... what gives me an idea... on the second game of the Triology the traitor releases some metroids and send to our dimension ... these metroids spread themselves ... so...they are Unleashed here... so Samus can tell the source of this Unleashed Attack of metroids to the galact federation.. and the federation decides to be at Samus's side again...

The demo isn't great. It's very slippery and the collisions aren't quite right.

Also, with this much plot, I think you could've done a Metroid RPG, but that's up to you. It could be summarised further.

Thanks for the suggestion, but i like action games and i dislike RPG game .-. . I have a friend that wanted to make an RPG metroid fangame.. but he is only spriter and he cant program.

It would be worth rewriting the plot synopsis, making it more concise and understandable. It has a lot of spelling/grammar mistakes at the moment, and it's hard to take in a big chunk of text like that. Try splitting it up with a gap every few sentences.

Like this! Smile Reading a wall of text with that many mistakes in it will put a lot of people off. Be careful to only use capital letters when necessary.

Like Chris said, there's a lot of plot here for a Metroid game, have you thought of how you're going to get it across to the player? Cutscenes? Dialogue with NPCs?
Scanning things à la Metroid Prime or accessing computer terminals can introduce plot points to the player without having to sit through long and tedious cutscenes. That way, a player can ignore them if they choose to, which is especially useful when replaying a Metroid game, and for speed running playthroughs.

I realise that the demo is an old version, and so you're probably already aware of the problems with it, but it's worth noting a few of them. I appreciate the inclusion of wall jumping, but it needs work to feel right. The controls in Super Metroid are very tight, and they're one of the reasons the game is so enjoyable. When wall jumping, you need to be able to jump off a wall, and return to the same wall, higher up, for another jump. (Not just jumping back and forth between two walls.)

I clipped through the scenery in a couple of places, and I noticed that when I held the down key, and a direction key, Samus would slide in that direction, with the pose being different depending on the direction.

There are tools out there that let you use the engine from Super Metroid itself to make Metroid games, but you'd probably spend a lot of time trying to find workarounds and exploits in order to add certain things to the game, some of which may end up being impossible. To be honest, I'd rather you kept developing your own engine. It's more interesting that way. Wink

lol... I knew it had errors in the text... but i was too lazy to rewrite it, sorry. Well i am making my own engine, my own codes. In the actual wall jump you can do that, jump from a wall and return to the same wall. I even added Missiles xD.

I dont want to make a this game exactly as Super Metroid since i want to put new things on it, as i said i will give the player new strategies of combat. We already have some part of the first scenery ready. I will put a way of reading lores on the game.. but im still deciding it if it will be Scan Visor or just by accessing a computer and reading it. And yeah, there will be cutscenes.
