Sega Genesis sound style, in SNES tracks - IceManual - 04-18-2012 Evenin' folks. A while ago I found YM2612 (Gensis Soundchip) mixes of snes tracks by a fellow named Gecko Yamori on youtube and they sounded rad as hell so I thought I would take a shot at it, tell me whatcha think: I did some kirby, heres one of gecko yamori's Has anyone else ever experimented with this or listened to this type of stuff? I think its ill RE: Sega Genesis sound style, in SNES tracks - Cobalt Blue - 04-18-2012 i always felt that the genesis was more focused on a "bass" like sound than the snes. if i rememebr correctly, gors did it the other way around, porting Genesis tracks to the NES. RE: Sega Genesis sound style, in SNES tracks - Vipershark - 04-20-2012 What program are you using to make these? It sounds like you're just taking a genesis soundfont and making stuff with it? This version of Cocoa Cave was made with an actual YM2612 tracker so it sounds as it would coming out of a Genesis. Not to say that your stuff isn't good, but it would sound much better if you were using a legit YM2612 rather than just a ripped soundfont. But that's just me, I guess. If you're interested, VGM Music Maker is the program you want to use. http://shiru.untergrund.net/software.shtml RE: Sega Genesis sound style, in SNES tracks - IceManual - 04-21-2012 I actually only used Genesis soundfont percussion, everything else was VOPM. |
