Best spriting program? - ~Axis~ - 06-09-2012 Could you guys PLEASE tell me the best spriting program that allows you to make multiple sprites easily? RE: Best spriting program? - Lexou Duck - 06-09-2012 Either paint or GraphicsGale, imo Try both RE: Best spriting program? - ~Axis~ - 06-09-2012 GraphicsGale looks promising. Have you made any sheets with it? Did it work for you? RE: Best spriting program? - puggsoy - 06-09-2012 If you're talking about making sheets of ripped sprites, I use GIMP. It's got layers so you can save it as an .xcf to preserve them and move them around whenever you want, and export it as a .png for submission. If you're talking about making sprites, I have no idea, although you can also use GIMP for that. The pencil tool snaps to pixels and it's got countless filters and whatnot, so I don't see a reason not to use it. A lot of people here seem to favour Paint.NET too, although I've never used it so I can't recommend it myself. RE: Best spriting program? - Garamonde - 06-09-2012 If you want to make custom sprites, all you need is MS Paint. RE: Best spriting program? - Lexou Duck - 06-09-2012 for just ripping and arranging sprite sheets (seeing as that seems to be your intention), MSpaint is more than enough RE: Best spriting program? - ~Axis~ - 06-09-2012 I'm aware of that. I wanted to make a sprite SHEET. You know, sprites that are made proportionatly to each other for animations? My standard setting is 8x8px as most sprite graphics use multiples of these. It makes arranging sprites neatly really easy and comfortable. It has some other downsides, though. However, sinde I'm also packed with GIMP, Photoshopz (legal copy B-) and others, that's alright. For animations, GraphicsGale is said to be great as you can check your animated animations while animating. Haven't used it, though. RE: Best spriting program? - ~Axis~ - 06-09-2012 Thanks guys! I was looking for a software to make sprites for animations. I found GraphicsGale to be VERY handy (especially the onion skin feature). Any other suggestions. RE: Best spriting program? - John2k4 - 06-09-2012 GIMP has a customizable grid, which I have been using a lot recently. That and the movable guides. RE: Best spriting program? - ~Axis~ - 06-10-2012 GIMP sounds interesting... Link? RE: Best spriting program? - John2k4 - 06-10-2012 http://www.gimp.org/ RE: Best spriting program? - ~Axis~ - 06-10-2012 Is this the source code, or the actual program? RE: Best spriting program? - John2k4 - 06-10-2012 GIMP executable download: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/gimp-win/GIMP%20%2B%20GTK%2B%20%28stable%20release%29/GIMP%202.8.0/gimp-2.8.0-setup.exe RE: Best spriting program? - puggsoy - 06-10-2012 You could just use Google But yeah, GIMP is a good choice. I might make a tutorial for making sheets with it or something sometime. |
