Question about models-resource - Xewlie - 04-12-2013 Hey, I've being porting models to a game called Heroes Of Newerth quite regually and using tools such as MDX / M3 importer, this imports the model and all the animations for it. ( wow and warcraft 3 ) I've noticed that every single model so far that I have tried has no animations whatsoever, am I fated to have no animation rigs on anything I download here? I've looked around and around and all I found was some site that could animate them by uploading to a site and setting the leg/chin/sholder points but its very limited/costly and I'd rather the original animations if its even possible. I'm only using 3ds max to import the .obj files ( witch can't have animation anyway ) but even ones with .3ds don't have animations. So what's the deal with it then, what should i do? are there any models out there with full rigs that I could download? or an easy way to rig them or rip them myself? for example mario or sonic or some other game that has zero? i don't know and I've looked and googled everywhere... maybe a way to use the bones of an already existing model and put, like zero onto them? thanks RE: Question about models-resource - Previous - 04-12-2013 Model questions should be asked in the Model Discussion section, as they're more likely to be seen there by people who may be able to answer them. Some models on tMR have rigs, but most don't, simply because in most cases it's just not possible to get them with bones and everything. That's all I can say though, I'm not deep into model stuff. RE: Question about models-resource - Garamonde - 04-12-2013 we don't include animations because they aren't necessary (you can ask the TMR mod Peardian as to why that is cause idk myself), and often the only way to rip a model is via print screen rippers. as much as we would like to get the bones and everything with them, it just isn't possible a lot of times, and the ripper having already gone to the trouble of ripping it won't be up to rigging it or anything since I assume that's time-consuming and/or troublesome to do especially with weird models with lots of limbs and stuff. I'd say your best bet is just to look up online how to rig models in your program and you should find videos or something relatively easily. animating is probably a lot of work I understand but at least you have the models. and for some models the ripper had to jump through hoops to get it fixed up properly for submission, so depending on the model you're using and from what game/system, you're likely to not be able to re-rip it yourself, at least not that easily. anyway hope that helps~ RE: Question about models-resource - Xewlie - 04-12-2013 just seems like it's useless it its from prt screeners since anyone can do that ( sort of ) RE: Question about models-resource - Previous - 04-12-2013 If you wanna go through the trouble of getting the games, making the dumps, fixing the ripped models all on your own for each of these, sure, then you can do it. It's still much more convenient to at least have the meshes already done. Plus some people just like to look at models. Sort of. RE: Question about models-resource - TGE - 04-13-2013 .3ds is a shitty format in my opinion and it doesn't keep rigs. obj doesn't keep rigs either The formats you're looking for are dae/smd. Those do preserve rigs. RE: Question about models-resource - Xewlie - 04-13-2013 Ok so I tried prt screen ripping models myself and I've got to say it's alot harder then I thought, took ALONG time from all the errors I got importing and exporting it into a game. I ripped peaches castle from mario galaxy ( it will look alot better top down i was just taking a third person shot, this game is RTS View ) and put it into hon. damn that's fun |
