Sir Ethan's Sprites - Sir Ethan - 05-08-2014

So here is a thread dedicated to my Mascot.
Here are some sprites he has in the Mega Man Style:

Did I do a Good job on the custom sword sprites
(for his first sword slash,I used RM7FC slash Claw as a template)

Oh,and there are 2 sprites that are supposed to be layered, first the body on the bottom, then another character(preferably a character such as Felicia or Roll),then the arms on top.

Not bad. The second frame on the fire slash could stand to be a bit rounder, as well as some of the energy blades above it, especially the rolling sprite; those are way too jagged. The rising flame sprites are a bit uneven here and there too, but still look really cool.

By the way, wouldn't it be easier to put all your sprites in one topic? Just saying. It'd certainly help keep track of your progression.

I do Think I could do better on the Rolling Attack, the "Rekkoha",and his mouth.

Version 2:

*re-drew rolling slash
*made blade on second fire sprite a bit longer

RE: NinjaDude Sprites - Kelvin - 05-10-2014

The fire sword doesn't need a bigger blade, it needs a rounder blade.

i could have cut it a slight bit. also, i tested the 2 sprites in the upper corner, they didn't work out too well without it looking wrong.

You mean the two green energy sword sprites? Dude, I'm sorry to say this, but they don't work at all. In the downward chop sequence, the blade starts small, stays small on the second frame, and then gets long towards the end. The sideways slash has the same problem, and has no real shape to it other than being curved. I couldn't fix those without completely redrawing them, and that's just what you're gonna have to do. Take a look at some Megaman Zero or Battle Network sprites to see how an energy sword is supposed to look.

As for the rounder blades I was talking about, take a look:

Notice the blades on the left are jagged while on the right, they are round. Your problem is an inconsistent length of the lines on each segment of the curve. For the shallower part, they should be made of longer rows of pixels, and shorter where the arc gets tighter.

I meant the layered sprites

RE: NinjaDude Sprites - Kelvin - 05-12-2014

Layered? What do you mean? As in image editor layers? Because that's a PNG there, bud; it has no layers.

What I meant was the labeled sprites.

Here is a compilation/edit for a smash fangame

RE: Sir Ethan's Sprites - Kelvin - 05-22-2014

Nice compilation, but I think you should just post the edits so we can focus on those, then put the compilation together once they're done.

As for the edits themselves, the upward normal attack has really skinny arms. The downward aerial attack looks like it has a dislocated shoulder on the second frame. The Volnutt sprite on the final smash should just use black hair, and not so big. The forward smash attack's arm is too long; try rotating the body.

I think that's it.

zero in pocket fighter style, using his stance from mvc3

RE: Sir Ethan's Sprites - Kelvin - 05-31-2014

His thumb looks too long, and the feet are really flat. Although, the flat feet coul be part of the style, I dunno.
