Critiquing Help - shrubbyfrog - 11-08-2014 I'm so paranoid about posting threads into the wrong boards, but, here we go. So, there's this person on dA who I found from a comment on one of my friend's pictures. I decided to check him out (mostly because his profile picture looked like a recolor imho) and I saw this. So, I decide I might want to post a comment, because, this picture is why he doesn't shade his sprites. But then, I saw that a lot of comments were hidden, and a response from him to one of the comments is him yelling NO!!!!!! Then, in the description, it says this, 'See why I don't like shading now all you f*cking trolls?!' But, despite the fact it looks like he took criticism the wrong way and thought they were trolls and haters, I decide to post a comment anyway. (I actually link him to the VG Resource so he could get some advice and critiques.) 'Do you mind if I give you a critique on this? c: So, firstly, I'm assuming people have been telling you to shade the sprite. That actually isn't a way to shade. If you look at these sprites, you can see that your shading isn't actually the correct way to shade - www.majhost.com/gallery/Shinbs… And, obviously, these are custom sprites, rather than sprites people make out of Sonic Advanced sprites. You can join The VG Resource, which can be found here - www.vg-resource.com , and get started there. People will give you critiques on the sprites you make and will do their best to help you improve. But, after you've made your first thread, which will be in the Hello and Goodbye forum, you should read the Universal Rules, which are found here - www.vg-resource.com/rules/ The Golden Rules are just an index for the full rules, which are the universal rules. I suggest you read the entire thing. It'll be worth it in the end. If you want to become better at spriting, you can just let me know and I can help you! I'm just a beginner when it comes to spriting/custom spriting, so, I won't be an expert, but I can be a really big help! I hope this helped you! :'D' Now, I was intending to give him a full critique at first, but then, after seeing the comments and the description, I decided against it. So, my question is this; should I or should I not give a full-on critique if he replies? I mean, I want to be helpful, but at the same time, I don't want to get yelled at for helping. RE: Critiquing Help - Shade - 11-08-2014 Being able to take critique tells a lot about a person. Be completely honest and helpful, it's up to him whether or not he can handle it. You shouldn't be nervous about it just because he doesn't like the thought of advice. |
