Fan Translations - Ryan914 - 11-16-2014

A thread to talk about games that were fan translated, and upcoming fan translations one are hyped for.

I heard a rumor that Romancing SaGa 3 will be getting a massive translation overhaul, using the new variable width font the Spanish one used and a rewritten script entirely. From what I have heard, it will be released sometime next month to celebrate the Franchises 25th birthday.

Also I am looking forward to Glory of Heracles IV (Still undergoing due to quite a few bugs due to submenus and some tiles) and Daikaijuu Monogatari (Same group translating that game will also be translating its' sequel, and have made a proper translation of Mystic Ark, they are also translating G.O.D.-Mezame yoto Yobu Koe ga Kikoe-).

Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei was recently translated. If you are a fan of the Megaten series, play it; just be warned, it is incredibly difficult and unforgiving.

Mother 3's translation will be touched up to clarify some things.

let's remember to think about the people behind these projects!

aeon genesis is the most familiar to me and probably one of the bigger names, having done fan translations of japanese pc indie games cave story and la-mulana. those translations were practically the only reason those games now have sizable english-speaking fanbases, and also why the remakes of those games were officially localized! they also did a number of other notable translation works, such as treasure of the rudras, clock tower, and my personal favorite: live a live. they also recently released the patch for lagrange point. these guys are great.

lagrange point translation?? man, the only reason i want to play this game was for the music! now i get to enjoy it by actually playing it!

RE: Fan Translations - Pik - 11-17-2014

"For the Frog the Bell Tolls" was just recently translated, I think it's a few years old though.

And of course, the Mother 3 translation is a famous one.

I played the Bell Tolls translation, it's pretty good. Pretty important too, since the game is more about story than gameplay anyways.

RE: Fan Translations - Iceman404 - 11-17-2014

Someone please finish translating Lagrange Point, I will be a very happy Iceman.

Oh, also, having it on my signature reminded me... The Policenauts fan translation is another great one, released in 2009.

It's a Kojima game for the PS1, if you love Snatcher you'd like love game as well. Expect some dumb fanservice, but it doesn't detract from the game any.

RE: Fan Translations - E-Man - 11-18-2014

I would kill for a translation for Tomato Adventure! There has been a minor bit of work on one, but nothing else was done about it.

RE: Fan Translations - Raccoon Sam - 11-19-2014

Last summer I worked on a Rockman & Forte: Mirai Kara no Chousensha! -translation. It's on hiatus now though. Hacking the game is easy but boring, plus I don't know a single word in Japanese so it's somewhat tedious.

But screw that, I've got something WAY BETTER on the verge of being released Cute

RE: Fan Translations - Emma - 12-05-2014

Neill Corlett's translation of Seiken Densetsu 3 bears mentioning. Also, Magic Knight Rayearth and Sailor Moon: Another Story were games I played a lot as a tween, too.

(Never did finish any of them, though.)
