Professor Layton 3DS game models? - Carpaccio - 02-04-2015

Simply enough, I'd like to find a way to extract models from the Professor Layton games for 3DS, as we're making huge progress thus far in that field. I was wondering if anyone could help me learn more about it, or perhaps send me the files to have a look at?

It would be nice to have these models however from my understanding these files have not been ripped yet as the 3DS tends to have varying encryption from game to game, and The layton games unfortunately have not been ripped, I mean pokemon ripping is still under way.

Most games use the same encryption. A few recent 1st/2nd party games use different encryption though. I think this tutorial explains how to decrypt some or all of those games: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ip0GSBs3YA .

what about the models themselves? what format are they in does anyone know? can they yet decompressed?

Well, I'm assuming that they'd be in the standard Level 5 file format.

Models are stored in the chr, map, and npc directories as .xc files. These files can also be extracted with the same XFSA tool. Past that, I can't determine much else about these files.
That's all I know.

yeah I would need to look further into it, but it seems that it wont be to hard to get some results out of the game, I will try later.

If you can figure this out, and if it could also be applied to ripping PLvAA, I'd be the happiest Virt alive (sorry Jake Kaufman)

PLvAA could be a whole other ball game depending on what Capcom and Level 5 Decided to do with encryption.

Virt already quoted me above, but the crossover game uses the same Level 5 formats. There is no additional compression or encryption.
