Another Alien Alphabet - -¼- - 02-08-2015 I'm looking for feedback especially from people used to work with Anti-Aliasing as that's what I'm trying to be better at. For the sake of clarity of the image, the opacity of the letters anti aliasing has not been messed with, however, it will be when it's finished. Almost each letter had several designs, The ones on top represent my favourite and current designs while the others below will not make it into the finished alphabet. As you can see, some are alone and left untouched, but that doesn't mean that they are final, especially the triple arrows one, I'm considering reducing it to two arrows because it's kinda redundant to draw three arrows each time you use it. BTW, for some reason, the shades of grey become lighter when uploading to the net. I've got no clue as to why. It's the second time it happens. So I checked. R195 G211 B205 should actually be R195 G195 B195, R134 G148 B142 should be R127 G127 B127 and R178 G195 B189 should be R177 G177 B177 RE: Another Alien Alphabet - DragonDePlatino - 02-08-2015 Hmm...Anti-aliasin', eh? To be honest, what you have here is...not good. If you're going to be manually anti-aliasing, you need to focus on adding as few colors as possible. That's the advantage manual anti-aliasing will give you over automatically anti-aliased stuff, so you should take advantage of that. Not to mention, if your script is 1px thick, you should have little reason to anti-alias it in the first place. Try experimenting with different stroke thicknesses, and observing caligraphy to spice up your text a bit! Then your anti-aliasing will become much more important. Oh, and if you'd like a recommendation for an anti-aliasing reference, I'd highly recommend taking a look at the Mr. Gimmick! title screen, which was really quite smooth for the NES and used two anti-aliasing shades like you did: RE: Another Alien Alphabet - -¼- - 02-09-2015 Thanks a lot! I had drawn many of the symbols by hand and wanted to re-make them on pc with pixel art. I admit I myself thought that they were pretty bad, especially compared to the hand drawn ones but I didn't know what to do. Thanks again, I'll keep what you said in mind. |
