New To Ripping Stuff - MechaGalMonster_001 - 09-03-2015 I'm new to ripping stuff...Well, not really new. I just haven't ripped stuff in a long time (since I was 13 I think). So, since I'm a bit rusty on the subject, you guys got any good tips on now to rip items from a DS emulator? The game I'm trying to rip is Touch Detective, btw. (and yes I'm trying to rip both games) RE: New To Ripping Stuff - puggsoy - 09-03-2015 OK, so there are a couple of ways to do this. The one you're probably familiar with is hard-ripping, that is, taking screenshots of gameplay using an emulator. This is usually best to do if you have some way of disabling layers so you only see the sprites you want; DeSmuME is usually best at this. The other way, and the one you should always try before hard-ripping (since it's much quicker and complete) is ripping from the ROM directly. The tool of choice is usually Tinke, since it recognises a bunch of popular formats and manages to extract them fairly easily. In the case that there are unrecognised file formats (like .bin or what have you) then you can also ask people here to see if they can crack it open (or do it yourself, if you know how or want to learn). That's a quick overview that should get you started. If you need more help just ask! I also went ahead and looked into this game and it is going to be a little more complicated. Looks like a .bin file contains all the game's data. If you don't know how to go about accessing the contents, you should upload it and let some of the members here figure the format out, as puggsoy mentioned. RE: New To Ripping Stuff - Red Streak - 09-13-2015 Hi i'm new to ripping sprites myself, and i've hit a bit of a roadblock that for the life of me I can't solve. i'm trying to rip from the sega saturn game super tempo, and i've come to the conclusion that hard ripping might be the only option. as it stands though the only emulator that seems able to run super tempo is ssf, which while having a way to deactivate sprite layers which is good. has no real pause function or frame by frame. it's internal video capture exports to a format nothing can read, and any attempt to record with an external program causes it to lag and drop frames. I would love to just use yabusa as it has pause and frame by frame but i'm pretty sure there is no way to make super tempo work on it. in fact my current method that I might have no choice in doing is to download the best quality playthrough of it I can find. and hard rip from there but I would much rather have the option to do this myself. sorry if I just broke a ton of rules with how i'm posting i'm pretty new here so I hope i didn't step on any toes thanks. |
