Sprite Sheet Declined, Why? - KrusperButter - 10-20-2015 Hey guys, I made a Cloud Yoshi sprite sheet and it got declined. Anybody know why? The sheet is attatched. I think it got declined because there's not enough sprites. But it could be something else. RE: Sprite Sheet Declined, Why? - Ton - 10-20-2015 There's usually a reason included. Things that jump out at me: -Easy edit -Not a real character -Add-ons aren't very well done. RE: Sprite Sheet Declined, Why? - Random Talking Bush - 10-20-2015 I told you why in the PM I sent you, I specifically said that "Cloud Yoshi" isn't an official character and is unacceptable because of that. RE: Sprite Sheet Declined, Why? - KrusperButter - 10-20-2015 Easy Edit: Well it kind of was, although I've seen a bunny Mario sprite sheet, its just a Mario superstar saga sprite with bunny ears, that's an easy edit. Although it was a real power up in Mario land. Not A Real Character: Possibility Add-ons aren't very well done: I think I did really good on the hat, but the cloud stuff on his chest and hands I guess I could improve. Also, How do I change my profile pic? RE: Sprite Sheet Declined, Why? - Gors - 10-21-2015 It's okay, I guess everyone's entitled to commit mistakes - that's how we learn things. Next time, please follow this guideline: 1- Edits are usually frowned upon, unless it's complementary to the base sprite. So, if you make more animations and powerups for an official Mario sprite that happens not to have additional poses, it's alright. A sheet without all frames cannot be accepted. 2- Edits must be official quality. We will not accept edits that are glaringly different from the original game graphics. 3- Real characters only. This goes without saying - we will not add sprites of a character or powerup that doesn't exist. If you can find that exact powerup in a real official game, then you're free to do that and we'll add to the gallery. 4- Some sprite sheets we have in our database are really old (especially the custom/edited ones) and they are there because of historical reasons. Don't use these sheets as guidelines on how to make a sheet, because they're of inferior quality. Sorry for the inconvenience this might've caused to you, and we expect you to have a good day RE: Sprite Sheet Declined, Why? - KrusperButter - 10-21-2015 (10-21-2015, 06:22 AM)Gors Wrote: It's okay, I guess everyone's entitled to commit mistakes - that's how we learn things.Alright, thanks. You know if you could have someone put it in a rom hack and have it as a character, then it could be put in a rom hack game section beacause there are multiple rom-hack game's and if you could get yours added you could put your sprite sheet there. Only a thought. Sorry about the bad wording just couldn't work out how to make it sound better. On that note, it might help if the site had tags for these historical sprites with a little info icon, and when you click on it, it explains that it wouldn't be wise to use it as a guideline for what is acceptable. That should help clear up confusion, assuming people pay attention. I don't think it'd eliminate the problem, but it should cut down on it somewhat. Only a thought. ROM-Hack Rips need to be more unique than simply sprite swaps. For example, V.R. Fighters vs. Taken 2 is a hack of Virtua Fighter 2. Virtually none of the sprites match. Even with stages that seem similar (Paul's Stage in the Hack and Pai and Akira's Stage in the Original) have totally unique graphics to one another. I know an Amy Rose sheet that was submitted long ago looks ancient to sprites today. |
