Commodore 64 sprite-ripping - Superjustinbros - 12-03-2015

Ever since the renovation to the Other Systems section providing sub-sections for systems with only a few number of sheets, I got encouraged to rip some sheets from games released for the system, and maybe provide some useful info and tricks incase anyone else wants to rip sprites form a C64 game.

The preferred emulator I use is CCS64, and it has a number of useful tools for those wanting to do sprite-rips.

*Alt+P pauses the emulator, though it may also shift the game screen upwards or downwards. Also, you can't pause and unpause repeatedly due to the popup boxes which causes the emulator to skip frames upon unpausing.
*Alt+I does a frame-advance while the game is paused (holding it plays the game in slow-mo, but if you make an input in-game while frame-by-frame-advancing, you have to release Alt+I and hold them again), very helpful for capturing sprites with fast animations that repeated pausing and unpausing don't work too well for.
*Alt+F1 takes screenshots, which can be done while pausing.
*Options>General allows you to set the emulator's speed, far more useful for doing multiple screenshots in one quick section than frame-advancing if you set it to a low value. Unfortunately there's no way to switch between a low speed and normal speed through shortcuts (Alt+F3) that I know of, only normal and high speeds.

Hopefully this info will prove to be useful in one way or another.
