Ripping Ps2 models - backface culling - cdcase007 - 12-14-2015 hey guys! i've been trying to import some ps2 exclusive maps. i ran into many dead ends trying to decompress the files from the disc. i found this site and this thread: http://www.vg-resource.com/thread-20541.html ive been using this as a guideline and so far things are shaping up nicely but i have questions regarding backface culling. the models ive been ripping are not flat. after i scale them they are sized proportionally and i can do a full 360 top to bottom view of the model. however they are missing many polygons. i set the material to "2 sided" and all the polygons are rendered and the model looks like it should. i even tested it on the "render scene" tool and it shows no signs of backface culling. my issue is, the thread i linked above a user states that the "2 sided" method won't work for rendering. now i havent tested any of these models in game yet, but from the render scene and view port ive eliminated all backface culling. the op states the only way to fix backface culling is to capture multiple angles of the model then piece them together. im confused. are my models usable or am i just short term fixing bad models? that thread is a bit outdated. are there any new options out there for ripping maps from ps2 games? lastly here are the files i cant seem to extract, maybe someone here might know something i dont. http://www.mediafire.com/download/v7fmsiaizkbko8n/gr_jungle.rar thanks! |
