Thrillville: Off the Rails DS ripping - Chrisatsinnoh - 05-09-2016

Hey everybody.

I'm currently new at the model ripping thing. I'm trying to rip the 3D models of the characters from the DS version of Thrillville: Off the Rails, but I'm having trouble with doing so. When I first extracted the rom's files with Tinker, it appears that the models could be hidden somewhere in the rom where I have no clue where they might be, or they might be hidden in the overlay files. But as I previously mentioned, I don't know how to open these 3D models clearly. I tried to follow guides on how to rip NDS models but they didn't help. I've also used several programs that are capable on ripping 3D models, but not every program I used helped me. Some of them opened for a split second, and close afterwards. Others were not capable on opening the files because they opened them incorrectly; like showing a lot of text and code instead of the actual model of the 3D model I want to see. I was only capable on ripping the music from the game as they look simple to rip, but not the models. I also tried looking for help on the internet, and it didn't work out, either. Like I said, all the methods I tried to follow in order to rip Nintendo DS models didn't help me, as the 3D models from the game are hidden within the rom itself, or in the overlay files I previously mentioned.

If you know how to rip NDS Models that are hidden within the rom or in overlay files, let me know. Smile

Hey! So, simply grab MKDS Course Modifier and extract the file that is the *.zip. Unzip the archive and it'll spit out a bunch of gibberish extensionless files. The models are actually there, the certain files just need to be renamed to *.nsbmd. (If you don't mind, I'd like to rip these too Cute), and open them with MKDS Course modifier and export as an obj. The textures will come out on export too. Here's a rocket of some sort:

.zip   Rocket.zip (Size: 11.23 KB / Downloads: 216)

Hope this helped!

Thanks for offering me the program, but when I already extracted the zip, along with renaming the overlay (for example, overlay9_2.nsbmd) to .nsbmd, the model doesn't show up! Even renaming the overlay doesn't show anything, and the same goes for the rocket... Maybe I'm new with the program  Shy

oh, and by the way, what do you mean by (If you don't mind, I'd like to rip these too Cute)? Maybe you want to rip the files for me or something? I can try to rip them myself if I know what to do clearly! I only managed to rip the music from the game so far, but if you're requesting me the files from the game, we need to do that on the requests category in the forums. Smile

Not so much grabbing it, but rather ripping it for the resource websites. Since you found it first, I would like to know if you're okay with that or you'd like to do it yourself Smile.

Well, I'm ok with the program, but I need to learn much more about ripping if I want the models I want to be visible on my screen! Smile

I don't know! But we can talk about it on Twitter! I sent you a tweet on your timeline. Wink

I still confused on the model ripping guide. I still have the files extracted, but I still have no clue how to rip the models of the game, nor receive their textures...
