My guess is that he has a small netbook or chromebook that is either not powerful enough or not able to run a lot of the programs people use here. In which case, there's not really anything that can be done aside from him getting a new computer.

j/k but yeah, as everyone else is saying, this is like an INCREDIBLY VAGUE question. i mean, congratulations on owning a computer!
but there's like an encyclopedia of things that could be the issue here: it might be as simple as your computer (or even the programs) are too old, or you're on a different operating system (most things here are written for Windows, not Chrome OS, for instance). but we're gonna need a little more information than "i have a computer and these programs aren't working"
what are the applications even saying when you try to run them? screenshots would be your best bet, but if you just wanna type out the errors you're getting that'd be a help for us too to help you get things up and running again.
