Trying to rip from old game. Any ideas? - mechlai - 02-16-2017

I want a few models from an old obscure mmo that (I'm pretty sure) predates WoW. It was a horrible game called Oz World, but I have a lot of fond childhood memories of that game.

I've gone through the tutorials for ninjaripper to no success. I just get a "log" when I try to take a screen cap.

I could do some pretty cool things with it if I could just get my hands on the obj files of my character. Ultimately, I'd like to get the OBJ files with applicable texture maps that I could bring into maya and rig it up for use in VrChat. (I'm a huge VR nerd and I want to walk around as the avatar that first held my current username.)

Any ideas how I can go about ripping a model from this game?

Hey, I know this is a month old, but in case you are still interested I may have a potential solution. It would seem from what I can find the game runs on DirectX 6 considering the timeframe of the original release being somewhere in 1999. Recently, 3D Ripper DX gained beta support for DirectX 6 in version 1.8. I No clue if Ninja Ripper has support for DirectX 6 in the first place. If it doesn't, there lies the problem. Try using 3D Ripper DX, you should hopefully get results.

Tex Mod might work as well. I just installed 3D Ripper DX yesterday and saw that the 3Ds Max script went only up to 3Ds Max 2011. Do you know if there is one for 3Ds Max 2015? The op could probably benefit from it since the .obj files that Ripper Dx makes are always a bit deformed but the other ones I heard are meant to be accurate and sometimes makes models in a t Pose.

I use Blender, so I have no clue. You could run it through Blender, and re-export it if need be.
