my megaman sprites - tarkan809 - 04-08-2017 Well... as you know about mega man customs right? well i made one: RE: my megaman sprites - Chris2Balls [:B] - 04-08-2017 They're edits rather than customs. You edited existing sprites to create these, they were not done entirely from scratch. I'd go as far as saying you spliced some Megaman II Heat Man and Mega Man sprites together. The parts which you've drawn, such as the climbing frames, are pillow-shaded, and they don't seem in style with the rest. Look at how the lighting is done on the original sprites, and how the outlines are done. It will help you fit in with the style. RE: my megaman sprites - Chris2Balls [:B] - 04-08-2017 I'd rate this with a low grade, like a 2/10. Why? Because your splicing is basic, the parts you did from scratch aren't technically good, and this is yet another Megaman edit. It lacks technique and originality, basically. We all have to start somewhere, though! What does matter however is you carrying on spriting, and once comfortable with making edits, moving on to sprites you draw entirely from scratch. RE: my megaman sprites - DioShiba - 04-08-2017 Two things: 1) We're mostly here to help improve on sprites, not showcase them and ask what rating they are. 2) Even if you asked me to, I wouldn't rate it because I feel that can end up being counter productive to what good feedback is. BUT even if I had that in mind I'd agree with Chris2Balls on this one. You are far better off making your own content from scratch than making edits. And if you ask me in why I say this is because editing isn't a very good process to make good sprites compared to making a REAL custom sprite. That applies with everything in how you make artwork too. making a sprite set still falls under that. RE: my megaman sprites - DioShiba - 04-09-2017 I don't quite think you understand what I meant by what I said, but you're going to figure that out soon enough. RE: my megaman sprites - Gors - 04-10-2017 >megaman customs oh boy here we go I'm fucking tired of your inability to do things right, I've been really kind until now but holy shit if you want to be a part of the community, then at least do the bare minimum to understand how it works Because not only you're bad at pixelart, but you're also bad at locating yourself and what to do. No wonder you already got a negative, and if you keep doing these fuckups i'm sure it'll get worse This is not even a custom. Custom means that original work without official bases used. Obviously this uses official bases and thus it is an edit. There are long ways to make a better job but if you just act like this, you aren't going too far. Try actually reading the rules and lurking a little bit more to understand how stuff works, then try working on your quality and everything should fall in its place. |
