I'm pretty sure the PS2 has the single largest library of all home consoles. For the most part, it also has the greatest collection of high-quality titles on a device. It was released during that in-between era where companies were starting to cater to the "MORE REALISM AND BROWN" people, but were still also catering to people with interests in colorful platforming games and traditional JRPGs. Most of us probably have far too many fond memories of the PS2 to recount only a few specific instances.

Final Fantasy XII stands out, I played it over 100 hours and still wasn't able to beat the last few monsters (especially the white dragon in the ice mountains gave me the fight of my life).

My Playstation 2 was mostly just an rpg machine with games like:
Dark Cloud 1 and 2
Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2
Shin Megami Tensei 3 Nocturne
Persona 3 fes and 4
Final Fantasy X and XII
Dragon Quest VIII
Disgaea 1 and 2
Baldur's Gate 1 and 2
Rogue Galaxy
etc...
I also can't forget stuff like Okami, God of War, or Devil May Cry, which were also great. The original Star Wars Battlefront 2 was the game I probably put the most time into, most likely being in the 100-200 hour range.
