Soundtracks. - DemoCrew19 - 12-10-2018 Hi, I was just wondering if we could upload the official soundtracks to the sounds resource if the sounds weren't in the code, but released separately on a cd as long as I give credit to the original website since it says it is free to download. For example, {LINK REMOVED}. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I can't believe I had to spellcheck the word "resource"... RE: Soundtracks. - Resistiv - 12-10-2018 The issue is not that the music originates from the game, but instead that companies own the copyright to said music, and that can cause legal issues with the site that hosts those files if a company decides to take action. NO MUSIC AT ALL is allowed on the Sounds Resource because of this reason. Hope this helps, cheers! RE: Soundtracks. - DemoCrew19 - 12-10-2018 k. Thanks... I am just trying to make it easier b/c in the sounds resource, all I can find there are little beeps and whistles that is near impossible to decipher. Not to be rude, but I feel its hard to make games out of those RE: Soundtracks. - Resistiv - 12-10-2018 Eh, it can be useful to people who are in need of sound effects that they remember from iconic games, so it's understandably confusing if you go in to browse randomly instead of with specific intent. However, if you want you can upload soundtracks to sites like YouTube (as I do) if they don't already exist there (or are horribly outdated). In most cases, it actually provides more exposure for the soundtrack and allows for better organization. RE: Soundtracks. - DemoCrew19 - 12-10-2018 Thanks! I'll think about it. RE: Soundtracks. - Petie - 12-10-2018 Our purpose isn't to make it easy for you to make a game from existing assets, FYI. The need for sound effects for various things is definitely there but they're not allowed to be used in commercial settings anyway so that point is moot. It's more just to archive and appreciate the work that went into these games and for personal use (think things like notification tones). |
