Ripping from AVGN Adventures 1? - planetshaper - 01-08-2020 First post! I've had success in ripping from AVGNA: II, simple enough because Unity ect. ect., however I can't seem to find a simple way to rip sprites from the first game, the main problem being I'm not 100% sure what tool to use or what the game was really programmed in. Any tools I could use to at least go through the game's sprites or similar? Thanks !! RE: Ripping from AVGN Adventures 1? - Simpsons Dumper - 01-09-2020 You can extract avgn.exe with various extractors. I think 7-Zip should work. The files are hidden so be sure you have hidden files visible in your file browser. However, unless you just want the software icons, I think we have a problem. The majority of game data seems to be in .extra, but it doesn't seem easy to get much out of this. By trimming the file up to "MZ" in a hex editor, you can make it appear as an executable to your computer, but I'm not sure this helps any. If we look at .text, we can't see any text, so it's possible some compression or encryption is at play. I've gone ahead and extracted the .exe itself and it's not really something I've seen before, and judging by the sizes of the files in the first directory, I don't think much is being stored in this, the other option being that like you said, compression or encryption is being used. I'd guess the latter, as the other folders (DIALOG in .rsrc for example) have files that would presumably contain dialogue but are the size of 1 KB Thanks for the lead though, I'll put an update here if I make any major discoveries ! RE: Ripping from AVGN Adventures 1? - Simpsons Dumper - 01-09-2020 Those "dialog" files are for menus - layout and strings, as far as I can tell. Not that I've really investigated them since they're obviously not of interest. |
