How Can I Improve These Sprites? (Jeff EarthBound) - Happy Time Boredom - 03-05-2021 Hi, I recently finished my custom sprites of Jeff Andonuts from EarthBound, attempting to give him more sprites, like Ness's pajamas, the bike, and Magicant JP style. My sheet was rejected due to some things just being a bit off. One of the things I was recommended to look at was the hair on the pajamas sprites. I want my sprites to be up for the world to see, but what I want more is for them to be good, so does anyone have any tips on how I can improve them? Any help would be appreciated. (Jeff EarthBound) - Perigi - 03-05-2021 If a previous critique was on the hair, I would suggest: - Relooking at the PJ-sprites for Ness, as they have his hair a bit messier to convey bedhead-hair (which can be messy overall, cowlicks, etc). I'd look at a reference for Jeff's hair and try to think of a messy hairstyle that might be appropriate for him. - The diagonal sprites (mainly the ones with his back facing us) could maybe convey a bit more of a rounder shape in the orange hair-lines? Kind of like what's in the side-profile sprites, so just adding or shifting a pixel on the hair-lines to make his head seem rounder could help. Otherwise, I don't see how you could push them further while still retaining the OG style. o: |
