Kingdom Hearts height chart - trulymadmoves - 04-05-2021 Hey, everyone. Okay, gonna be honest, I know nothing about model ripping, but I'm hoping that, now that the Kingdom Hearts series has just come out on PC and I'm already seeing a bunch of game mods for it, I'm hoping somebody can help me with this project I've wanted to do since 2011 -- no one who rips models has ever been willing to discuss the idea with me, but I'm thinking the PC release will make it a much easier notion? Tell me if I'm on track. The idea? Kingdom Hearts height charts. Every character model in the entire series, ripped -- not just the original and Final Fantasy characters, but the Disney characters and background extras and monsters too. And arranged in a bunch of charts that conclusively determine exactly how tall every character and creature in the series is. I have ideas for specific groups that can be depicted in some of these chart images, and maybe we can take some requests for other configurations. Plus, you know... every character variation and every background extra, that'd just be fun to see. Step 1 is proving how tiny Sora is. People get really angry at that notion for some reason, but... it's so self-evident. He's so freaking small compared to every adult human in the series, I have the burning need to see it proven scientifically and put the debate to rest. If Auron is 6'0" (his canonical height in FFX) and Jack Sparrow is 5'10" (Johnny Depp's height in real life) then Sora has to be much shorter than the purported 5'3", and he's that tiny in comparison to every adult character in the series regardless of art style. And I know Kingdom Hearts III models have never been ripped due to being on the PS4, do you think that'll start changing now thanks to the PC release? Think they can show up in this thing? RE: Kingdom Hearts height chart - Makoto - 04-05-2021 They have been ripped, just not put on the model resource(like any other model being always rejected for whatever reason). both ps4 and pc ver use unreal, with Umodel you can easily export the models. Okay, it's definitely confirmed doable? That is very good to know. It's still well beyond my capabilities, I don't have the slightest conception of how any of this ripping/exporting stuff works, and based on all my previous attempts at figuring out coding and programming, I never will. But I have this vision which I'm sure hundreds of other fans would also like to see, so... if anyone here has those resources, every KH model in the series straight from the games to determine their exact size, I'd very much like to talk. RE: Kingdom Hearts height chart - Shade - 04-05-2021 It’s honestly not as hard as you’re making it out to be. I’ve been doing stuff like this since I was like 11. And, if what Makoto said is true, Umodel is a super easy program to use. Give it a shot and you’ll probably be surprised. Umodel have even a specific texture support for kh3, beside standard version you need to use to open the models. I ripped from the ps4 ver, so idk about pc, but i don't think there will be anything different format wise really. You just need to get your files from whatever your sources are, open up the paks, and export what you want. Beware that eyes and hair most times will require baking of sorts as they're done thru shaders. SOme models have also 2nd uvs for ambient occlusion maps and mini bump maps in addition to main normalmaps. But just the extraction and converting to stuff like blender is ver very easy. That's supposed to convince me it's easy? That broke my brain just trying to comprehend what it meant. Even if I was capable of learning my way around any software (I'm truly not) I don't think my laptop can handle graphics of that caliber. Look... clearly there are tons of people out there who have the entire saga on PC now, know where to find all the character models, I've seen so many great works of art produced by just moving those characters around on their own sets, making them dance, why isn't anyone willing to discuss the idea with me of just taking specific small groups of them, one by one, and lining them up as-is in front of a height chart? Surely that's so much easier than the extracting and rigging and posing part. |
