the models i download dont show up in blender. i think it has to do with the file type, any help will be appreciated.

Would you be able to explain what you're doing? Blender should be able to import any .dae, .fbx, or .obj file that you would've got from the downloaded models.

What version are you using? Blender will be able to import any .dae, .fbx, or .obj files you have from downloaded models.
