BaBy LuiGi: TriForce: SackBoy: HoMer: RE: Mabelma's sprites - Goemar - 02-16-2009 Looks like you drew him with a line tool, his feet look wrong, his arm in the distance is bigger than his closer arm and both arms look broken. Not a bad start, but needs a lot of work. RE: Mabelma's sprites - Mabelma - 02-16-2009 Thanks Goemar I'll try fix it. Here's something new I made. What do you mean by they look broken? I recently learned that Graphics Gale lets you make gradients of colors in a pallet. This will help my coloring skills a lot. RE: Mabelma's sprites - Mabelma - 02-16-2009 Lol i didn't noticed that but thanks by the way here I revamp the colors of Baby Luigi and fixed his right hand. I need to improve my spriting skills a lot in order to make my games more popular. Sorry for the double post but I had to show you guys the new Triforce sprite. Here: RE: Mabelma's sprites - Mabelma - 02-17-2009 Well guys what do you think of the new stuff. I really want to improve my spriting. RE: Mabelma's sprites - Mabelma - 02-18-2009 Lol no one replies to my topic I have 5 replies and 3 are from my self. Here I did something new: It's homer in the Tales of Eternia style I really don't get the style but if you guys could explain it a bit I'll be glad to fix homer. RE: Mabelma's sprites - Previous - 02-18-2009 Uz, it's like, Tales of Eternia uses a completely different Style to what you did there. Didn't you look at some? Like, they have shading and stuff and other dimensions and whatever. RE: Mabelma's sprites - Mabelma - 02-18-2009 That's the thing the only detail I actually got from a sprite of them was the darkest colored outline I couldn't really tell nothing else. So please help me out and explain me what the style is all about. RE: Mabelma's sprites - Samsara - 02-18-2009 Maybe this will help. http://img403.imageshack.us/my.php?image=malembaiu1.png I always reference the height by using Kratos. use the colours from ripped sprites on TSR. Put your Homer sprite next to Kratos (We can assume that Homer is 6'0ft) now as you can see your sprite is much bigger than Kratos, he needs to smaller, I made you a aval which you can use for homer's head if you want. RE: Mabelma's sprites - Mabelma - 02-18-2009 Thanks #sam# I'll fix it no problem. RE: Mabelma's sprites - Mabelma - 02-18-2009 Sorry for the double post again but the problem is that I really need to get criticism on my sprites and if I edit my post if won't be up front on the section because I didn't bump. Anyways here's the new Homer J. Sipsom in a similar style to the Tales of Eternia style. It still needs work but I think I improved a lot in this one. RE: Mabelma's sprites - Mabelma - 02-19-2009 Come on guys a lil inspiration and C+C will come in handy I cant believe almost no one has posted on my topic. RE: Mabelma's sprites - bahamut920 - 02-19-2009 Personally, I think that you picked a poor choice to begin learning the Tales of Eternia style. Matt Groening's art style is very different from the more anime style employed in the Tales games, which means it will be very difficult to make Homer in-style (Unless you can find the right reference... ). You might want to select a different character to begin your foray into a new style of spriting, one closer to the base style you're trying to imitate. Your lineart is good (except on that last Homer sprite, he looks like a child's toy), but you need to work on shading and palettes. Homer's palette is atrocious, the yellow of his skin is too bright, and the brown of his mouth/stubble is too dark (besides, isn't it supposed to be more grayish?). Baby Luigi needs more consistent shading. You shaded the back of his cap and one sleeve, but left the rest of the sprite unshaded. The Master Sword emblem needs to be more consistent with the design of the Master Sword. As I recall, there's a Triforce emblem in the middle of the crossguard, and the crossguard has lines running down it. Also, the blade's edge is more curved than that. Here's a good reference image. RE: Mabelma's sprites - Mabelma - 02-19-2009 Thanks Bahamut I'll fix everything you said. I made a little big planet plush guy buy at school so I can't upload it right now I'll do that later. I fixed the Triforce here: About Baby Luigi he is shaded but the colors on his clothes blend a lot so they don't really look good. I won't sprite homer in that style anymore anyways I mad him in paper mario style I actually like it. I'm going to sprite some more stuff soon so wait a bit. |
