Castlevania: Symphony of the night - Soldjermon - 06-21-2009

well, since the thread of my sprite and background rips are in the archives, I'll start a new thread, this time mainly for Symphony of the Night, and I'm only posting new rips up.

I bet that anyone who has rips from SotN, could post on this thread as well, but I have a feeling that no one would want to and post on their own thread. >.>; ( that's just me and my opinion.. XP )

both PS1 and Saturn

here's the area connection sheet, both normal and inverted! Big Grin yay!
while I was working on ripping this for my comic, I realized, this needs to be in a sheet, and so I done this. >.> ain't that sweet? Big Grin
yeah, the shadows in the examples of the area connection are hard to see, but I have actually tested the pieces out of when I ripped them, and it works perfectly, so the sheet is accurate.

that's all I have for now, that are new.. when I rip some more complete sheets out, I'll let you know.. so, see you all later! and enjoy! X3

Castlevania goodness is always welcome

RE: Castlevania: Symphony of the night - Dazz - 06-21-2009

Wow... Surprised we don't have this!
Nice one!

RE: Castlevania: Symphony of the night - Soldjermon - 06-28-2009

another update! Big Grin this time, it's the Underground/Reverse Garden(?) piece! yay! X3

just to let you all know, I put some nice helpful information in the sheet, so you know of what was happening when I reached those areas. >.>
I think I've put information on all of the sheets I've done, so you all know of how much of a pain it was, and what was happening.
I think this one's the one that takes the cake, of having the most information in the sheet. X3 couldn't help it.

I even gotten the animation of the water as well! Surprise surprising, isn't it? oh well.

hope that someone can rip the real underground/reverse garden, as well as the cursed prison/reverse prison from the saturn version. >.>;

that's all for now, chao! Cute

MDI from Mugenguild captured a ton of shots of the Underground Garden. So far this is what I have. Its a wip, but it might help.

RE: Castlevania: Symphony of the night - Soldjermon - 09-30-2010

thanks Mrgrill247! Big Grin now you gotten me inspired to rip backgrounds from the Saturn SotN now! XD

boy, I haven't posted up on here in over a year.. but hey, I'm posting now! X3

since I had finally figured out of how to rip directly from Saturn SotN(which actually took me at least 5 days to figure out), I had gotten two background sheets done. one from the Saturn SotN, and the other couldn't have been done without the Saturn SotN; even though it's used for both Saturn and PS1 versions.

anyway, here's the Saturn-exclusive Cursed Prison and the Save Room background sheets! Big Grin
[Image: cursed-prison_icon.png] [Image: save-room_icon.png]
side note: please use these icons that I did! Very Sad reason why I asked, is because the Portrait of Ruin Medusa icon I did wasn't even used at all and was replaced by someone else's icon, which I didn't like.

it took me a long time to get the cursed prison to look like the PS1 version, even though it's exclusive to the Saturn version.. x-x but the resizing was a real challenge, because that MSPaint doesn't do a good job at all, and the SSF emulator always has their screen resolution fixed at a certain size.. so Photoshop was actually was helping me in the long run, because that resizing on that program actually made it look the way it is now. but oh well, at least I got what I wanted out of all of this trouble.

I'm not sure of when I'm going to start ripping the underground garden myself, but I hope to start on it real soon.

hope you enjoy everyone! X3

Wow, awesome. How did you get the Saturn rips? Could you get more Saturn-exclusive stuff from the game for us?

I can, but it's going to take a long while to get more of the backgrounds done. I'm usually ripping these mainly for my sprite comic I'm working on, but I can rip for TSR too.

I used the SSF emulator to rip the background of the cursed prison out. I had-to use the combination of Photoshop and MSPaint to re-size the cursed prison to look like it is now.
but the thing is, if you want to do tile-ripping from the Saturn SotN, Yabause emulator would be your best bet; since it has features that would help you view the tiles from the game in real time.

either way, Saturn doesn't do well with sprite placement on this game, so it makes the sprites and background to look jagged, even in the correct size of the window resolution; unlike the PSX can make the sprites and backgrounds look perfect. so the deal is, if you want the sprites and background to look like the PSX version, you would have-to use both Photoshop and MSPaint.

anyway, now you know. ;3

RE: Castlevania: Symphony of the night - Ton - 09-30-2010

Oh, cool. Thanks. Yeah, I heard ripping from the Saturn was hard, but I didn't really know why. Well, if you do want to do more, that'd be great. But if not, I understand. I'll have to find a list of all the Saturn-unique stuff.

RE: Castlevania: Symphony of the night - Soldjermon - 10-02-2010

aye! another submission! Very Sad this time, the OFFICIAL Saturn-exclusive underground garden and the warp room backgrounds! x-x

[Image: underground-garden_icon.png] [Image: warp-room_icon.png]

it was really tiring, but at least it didn't take me as long as the Cursed Prison, I can tell you that. >3>;

like the Cursed Prison I did, I converted it from Saturn to PS1 standard of sprite placement. it wasn't easy and it's not perfect, but at least I gotten it pretty damn close. XP

I've also put information of what kind of effects the candle lights and the water is, to match up to almost like the PS1 standards. usually other people just rip the background with the candle/water effects, but sometimes even that's a hassle. only drawback is, to use the effects, you would need to have photoshop to do that.

but anyway, hope you enjoy these two backgrounds! Big Grin

RE: Castlevania: Symphony of the night - Soldjermon - 10-04-2010

and yet again, another update.. >3> this time, the reverse prison background.

from what I've researched of the reverse garden, it looks like that the color palette of the reverse garden are the exact same as the normal counterpart. so it's kind of pointless to rip the reverse garden.

anyway, I have updated a couple of sheets; which is the underground garden and the cursed prison, to fix some errors that I had missed.

that's all I have for now. Cute
