Again, bad gradient on the pants. Put darker blue.

Thanks for the advice guys.

The change from blue to purple is too rough. Smoothen that out.
Also, his belt area is really incomplete.

Is it the AA? Is it the level of refinement/ colour count (to give an idea of palette constraint and recycling)? Is it the way it looks static? Maybe I should animate it? Could you please show me what you mean by feel like a sprite because I'm not sure how to tackle the problem...
Tried fixing the gradient:

Haha, no skeletons in the closet, just something "cool".
To be quite honest, I can't find much to do on the trousers (don't want pockets or a fly, it'll destroy the unity of the gradient and trousers) and yes I have tried. :/

i can't really point anything specific but it certainly doesnt feel or look like something you would find in a game and it has nothing to do with the color count or the AA. and i'm p sure thats what you were aiming for. i just think you should actually rework it entirely instead of using the old one as a base(the torso) because the clash between it and the pants just breaks the guy in half.

its like when iceman tried to redraw the old SMB Mario with its original pose, it just didn't worked because the original worked only in its particlar context-

PS: i really tried to make that sound coherent :V
PS2: i think its the way its draw, it somehow lacks the 'functionality' the sprite should have, or something like that.

I think the biggest problem is the fact that the body is so full of nice sharp lines and then the legs are just a blob of swervy shapelessness. I would completely redo his entire bottom half if I were you.

Okay, I think I see where you're getting at; maybe this problem has occurred because the sprite is a drawn-over splice. I'll consider this one as a detail reference for when I remake it. The pose is rather nonsensical (a pose for the sake of posing), as in it doesn't seem to fill any particular purpose if it were used in a game. Thanks for clarifying, I'll restart from scratch after some exams coming up very soon :o
Arthur: I see, I think I smoothened the legs down to such an extent that the knees disappeared, I'll work on it Sad
