The old one also fits the style more, the pillow-shading just needs to be fixed in some area's...

I'm digging most of Hunter's shading and his palette is vastly superior... just slap it on the old sprite and we've got ourselves a deal.

I hope you don't mind but did a few touch-ups.

That's how his belly should look like.
legit didnt see that post just thought id make a """""poopaul"""" post
will probably just do what tyrone suggested though because looking at the new stance again i dont like it at all

also going to talk about these two posts for a second because i hate when people get all """uppity""" about someone giving harsh crits
Quote:Why do you always make hands and feet so tiny when you sprite?
I mean, the new hands are like pebbles.
see this post here
perfect crit
i can tell whats wrong with the sprite just from this post
most of the time the tiny hands/feet work, but when spriting a character that doesnt actually have tiny hands/feet it doesnt really work

on that note, if you're going to start giving out crits like this iceman, grow a pair and learn to accept crits like this

Quote:I was going to say that was being a bit harsh there, Ice...
shut up
seriously, people seem to have this idea that being nice to people is the only way to improve and get across valid points in crits
someone at pixelation (i dont remember or care who since it's pixelation and they are generally all idiots) said something along the lines of "Honesty is the greatest compliment. In that light, any so-called "blunt" attitude should be cherished, not met with hostility."

it's completely true, and it's the exact opposite of the attitude most people have about recieving critique right now, mostly because they live in a generation where being nice and covering every comment in piles of sugar and nice is the "right" thing to do

I still think giving crits like basic instructions are best. That way you clearly get the point across and no one throws a pissy fit.

Of course you do. :|

We're not turning this topic into a crit debate though.

Tried combing the two. Raised the arms up like the first one, but edited ti off of the second one. Also it has larger hands and arms because it tried to make it more like the reference that everyone seems to be using. And skinnier, rounder belly.

None of the shading is final or anything. However, I like the way the newer one looks with the muscles, btu I feel it's too detailed for this style. But it should be more detailed than the other one was. but only slightly. Instead of shading it like spheres, we sh ould at least make it look like he has some shape to his body parts.

Love it. The hand issue seems to be addressed, the new facial expression is favorable, and the palette is looking good. My only minor gripe is that the back arm is looking a little too big when compared to the size of the body.

EDIT: You know, I actually prefer the new arms to the old ones. Don't see too much wrong with the current general design.

Shaded the arms and head. it's less muscley than the new but more than the old, to fit with the style.

Are you basing it on this version?

Well I looked at several reference pictures for the head, so I wouldn'texactly say I'm basing it off of any specific version.

His head was fine before, he's starting to look less like K. Rool. He should have a tall pointy crown.

I think the new head looks more like K. Rool, actually. I do agree about the crown, though. I just tried to fix it up here, along with a bit on the snout and his red eye.

EDIT: Nah, that crown needs to be less wide. Damn.. I'll give that a crack tomorrow, if no one else does (but I'm sure someone will).

Heres some things that should be fixed later

K rool is darker than that
his bracelets around his wrists are slightly wider than his arm, if you look close enough
his eyebrows need to be lighter
use the old teeth. They suited Rool better
his farthest eye is too bloodshot.
His crown, if you look close enough, has little dots on the end
And shading generally needs to be done from his shoulders down (not including arms)

just a couple of things that would make him look brilliant

Skinny crown, worked with the eye a bit. Didn't change the eyebrows because I didn't unerstand what was meant with "lighter". Aurapig, do you mean lighter in color or lighter as in the weight of them (like are they too heavy, meaning the thickness?). The detached head has the old teeth pasted into the new mouth, with the only editing done was moving the ones on the very bottom up a bit to fit the mouth. Made the bracelets thicker on the bottom, but I don't like how they turned out, so I left both for others to decide. Obviously the rest is going to be shaded. I thought it was clear this is a WIP, and therefore its pointless to comment on the need to be shaded. Colors are temporary, working on a larger update with more colors and shading and such.
