Yeah, the side sprites can show the posture more clearly I suppose. Do you think the front sprite is done then?

No. Show more of the belly, and add a little of the tail back in.

I've added tails to the old version and the new one (with more belly).
Thoughts?

His head is on fire
I would remove those wto pixels on his forehead, they give it a sad/depressed look. Also, his belly is transparent, heh! But yes, you're getting somewhere.

I see what you mean.
Here's the sad one vs. another one vs. an angry one. Thanked by: Previous

Took me a while to figure out what was the tail and what was the head.

Yeah, as for the tail feathers it would probably be a decent idea to give them outlines. You obviously still want to try to get it to look fluffy, though.
But I must say, you've made a lot of progress since the first post here. Patience and tolerance is a great virtue, along with not being afraid to inquire things especially if they don't seem right. All-in-all, I think that if you keep all this up you'll be a great pixel artist before too long. Thanked by: Jamuk

I'm not doing it to a huge extent though. And anyway, you kinda have to, to some extent, with 2D sprites as opposed to 3D models as the user can't orbit and pan round in the same way.

You don't have to do it. To show details that are hidden at some angles, yes, but not to make clear those details that are visible and ambiguous.
My suggestion would be to make the tail slightly longer, thereby showing that the crest is not attached to the head. Two or three pixels should do it. Thanked by: Jamuk
How's this?
I've also outlined the tail feathers to make them stand out a bit more. Thanked by: Gwen

Just wanted some feedback before I make the arms and legs.
Just so you know, the tail is drooping slightly at the edges.

Make the tail more vertical, and the head smaller and more pointed like in your references. Remember things need to keep the same scale at different angles. Use your other sprite for reference.
