It looks...squished to me. Also yeah, there's a lack of depth, shading the interior part should help with that
Edit: Woops. Ninja'd. Gatsby's is nice. It doesn't feel as squished too, even though the width is the same, maybe it was my eyes playing tricks (or the width could be longer idk)

Me personally I love that new one you made! Oh, I know! You just made me realize you guys were going for a simple design, so I made another one, heh. I'm not forcing anything here, I'm sorry if I'm coming off as such. I'm not posting these with the expectation of them getting accepted, I consider them suggestions more than anything.
And thanks, everyone! I really appreciate it.

Hey as Gatsby improved my Honeycombs, anyone is free to improve anything else I make. Just letting you guys know for the future.
Just posting these here for critiques; I'm unsatisfied with the extra honeycomb piece for some reason, and I'd really like some input. I feel like I could add something else to seperate it from the regular honeycomb, but I'm unsure on what that is exactly... I also want to know what you guys think about the musical note! If you guys see anything wrong with it, I'd like to know before I start making the rotation sprites.

I'd love to help out with this, but I feel as though my 'from scratch' spriting skills are subpar. Although I guess there's no time like the present to get criticism and better myself...
I'd love to see you try, Rad!

Yeah go on ahead, the style isn't too hard. Also Gatsby I figure the Empty Honeycomb piece could be shiny gold looking while the regular Honeycombs are regular yellow.
Maybe add white to make it look shiny.
I'm a little unsure on how it came out. What does everyone think? I also added some shine on the Musical Note, while I was at it.
The shine needs much more contrast.

I thinks it's pretty good, my only grip is that the music note seems a little flat, IMO.

Tried white. Is this good?

I like it. I also liked the last Honey Comb you did.

Changed a few pixels around Grunty's left eye. Not sure if it looks better or not.
Also, started on Topper. I'm not quite sure how to do the eyes, and the leaves look slightly awkward to me. Crits?
I animated your honeycombs, Gatsby using PGA. They look pretty neat!
Koopaul, I think you would enjoy doing Chimpy and Conga from Mumbo's Mountain!

Yikes that Topper is HUGE! Bigger than Grunty. I think you should make it smaller. Make it the size of Banjo himself. Remember characters in this sprite style are not accurate in height. All characters should be around the same size unless they are supposed to be a giant character like Conga.
Anyway I did a few things with the items.
For one I added a black outline inside the Empty Honeycomb. I also created sprites for the Note circling.
