Bombergirl [PLAYABLE CHARACTER]
#31
i know the portrait is still in the sketch phase, but i thought i'd make some suggestions on smoothing up the face:

i felt like her eyebrows were making her look too pissed/intimidating. it's cool to imitate jojo's art style and character poses and whatnot, but that seemed kind of too out of character for her, even in this exaggerated style, so i trimmed them down a bit and reshaped her right one.

i also rounded off her eyes more, thickened the upper eyeshadow, and thinned the lower eyeshadow, all to look more like the eyes in your non-jolyne references. lastly, i moved the mouth one pixel to the right, because i thought it fit the face's angle better that way.

your mileage may vary on all of these edits.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you've pointed these things out before I started shading!

honestly I think the head you have now is fine.
I mean, we are going JOJO style, but one of Bombergirl (and even Bomberman)'s defining traits is the large head. It also helps show that she's meant to be a younger, smaller character. I mean, of the portraits we have now, Chris has a human-proportioned head, but it helps with the large character physique.
Nick has a caricatured head size, which works perfectly fine IMO. I don't know if mine is the best example, but Ocks also has a slightly larger head.
I mean, Gors even still keeps the same proportions as Gilbert normally, which looks fine to me.

Basically what Baegal said -- Bombermen don't exactly have spot-on human physique so you can definitely take liberties there

If you still don't have a name you like yet, I'd suggest something like Blastrish or Blastina. Of course, that's just my opinion on a femine Bomberman name.

C2B, if you ever work on bomber girl again, don't attach the cape to her on every frame. I can layer the animations very easily.

Why am I posting a Bloom sprite here?
Well, I was thinking of adding Bloom to Bomber Girl's moveset, specifically a Gognio or Spritality where Bomber Girl summons Bloom to swoop in and strike the opponent. I call it "Sonic Bloom". Thoughts?

Spritality demo:

It reuses the punch animation.

She didn't have a Spritality already...? Well I guess that's okay then.

A new kind of bomb for Bombergirl's Gognio Special. She throws a Spike Ball ahead that stops briefly after a short distance and returns. Based on Axle the Red's weapon.

I think it loks fine, It may just look very detailed in motion but the shading seems simple enough.
