But drawing the circle is really hard! X_X
By the way, I will edit the body and the face for later...

I think you're misunderstanding what pixel art is, you see pixel art is an art style where you don't really 'draw' its where you lay down pixels at a time in a precise manner such as this.[Image: EbO4S9y.gif] Quick scaled up example of a boot I made so you can understand. While I think you're looking at it as drawing something in a small scale like this.[Image: UCEM1Lc.gif] Now there are some spriters that do a 'sketch' sprite as a rough draft and then do the actual sprite off of that. Like this [Image: _bb105ca6c54e77b1ac13f8fb786a87b6.png] and then refine it into something like this. [Image: _d4725325c136f7f521df1ed074ea3baa.png] The point of spriting is to sit there for maybe hours at a time placing pixels by hand, not just drawing a bunch of lines and calling it a day. Sorry if you still don't understand but I tried my best to explain. Never been good at post organizing either.

This could be a bit misleading, especially to beginners or young'ns.

The point of spriting is the resulting art, not the process.  Use whatever you want to do so, it doesn't matter, as long as the end result is accomplished.  If you can create what you need with only a bunch of lines, that's no problem.

There are the caveats, like using the circle tool because it does a poor job of doing so.  But, this is a different  issue of a reliable tool than "is this technically pixel art?".

I'm working on a custom sprite of Adeleine from Kirby 64 in Kirby Super Star style. Here's a link to a picture of her.

I'd like some critique on her. I'd especially appreciate critique on the colors and shading. Please note I have not done the coloring on the things she's holding in her hands.

It looks like there's some pillow shading going on her green blouse. Add a bit more contrast with the shades on the hat too. I cant see that much of a difference between the colors on the smaller sprite. Her left hand looks wider than her right hand too.

Small update. Tried to improve the shading on the blouse, and added more contrast on the hat.

The light sources look inconsistent now. The shading on the hat looks like the light's coming from the center while the shading on the blouse thingy look like it's coming from the top right. I'd suggest changing the shading on the hat to make it look like the light's coming from the top right.

It looks like the light is coming from the top left in the official sprites, though.

Tried to make the lighting more consistent on the clothes and the hat.

EDIT: I started on a KSS-style Pengy too. I used the sprite from Kirby Amazing Mirror as a reference; the reference sits on the right.

I go back to school this week, maybe just maybe if my work load isn't too killer I'll post a finished version along with whatever else I can finish.

I feel like it's hard doing your take on others characters, but I like how this it's turning out.
