Mario Kart 8

It may not be the same Kong but it's still Donkey Kong by name. Donkey Kong is a Mario character as I see it. While Diddy is part of the Kong franchise. I'm not saying Diddy shouldn't be in it, I just never really expect him to be.

Yeah Mario vs DK are spin-offs but well, I don't see Diddy in any of them...

If you mean an official title, then Donkey Kong hasn't been appearing all that much in official Mario games ever since his (well, actually Cranky's) arcade days. Sure, there's the Mario vs. Donkey Kong games (including the first one), but I think of those more as spinoffs than anything else.

I honestly see the Mario vs. Donkey Kong games as sequels to the original Donkey Kong trilogy... in a way, they're more like the original Mario franchise line, and DKC and SMB are the spin-offs.

Point is, Diddy trumps Pink Gold Peach.

Nah man, Pink Gold Peach is awesome, she's one of my favorite characters to drive as. Get to be Peach and heavy enough to knock people around.

yeah, because its super easy to just make a brand new character instead of applying different textures, voices, and physics. no wonder they did the obvious and made a new characterrrrrrrrrrrrrr[/sarcasm]

just like in smash bros, clones are here just for fun. they didnt really hurt anything development-wise, so i dont see the harm in them. its just something optional for people who might enjoy it. plus, making all those new stages look beautiful... thats probably why the roster is very repetitive with the babies and the minibowsers.

I think it bothers me more that she's "PINK gold Peach"

If she was just "Gold Peach" I would actually like her

what the fuck is "pink gold"

It's a specific color style in jewelry.

There's actually a reason I kind of like the presence of Metal Mario and Pink Gold Peach: it allows two of them to be classified in a heavier weight class. I don't know, I kind of find that interesting, and the Metal characters probably are the easiest to create when their bases already exist, so I feel like the dev time on them was minimal.

I still think it's a pretty ugly color though : P

I'd have preferred Pink Gold Peach, Metal Mario, Cat Peach, and Raccoon Mario to not exist. Its extra content sure, but something about shoving half-assed filler into something rubs me the wrong way.

Don't get why they're filler. They offer you the opportunity to play as fan favorites with different stats. I'm best with heavy racers but Peach is my favorite to kart as, and now I get the best of both worlds.

Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach I'm not going to make the argument that they took less development time, because they definitely used new models and animations, and encompassed two spots on a three spot portion of DLC. Granted, I got the DLC more for the tracks, but... I did find these characters to be odd additions. It almost seemed more appropriate for them to introduce the concept of character skins at that point.

I'll always defend Metal Mario, though. He's a badass.

Metal Mario was a literal boss in smash 64 so I kind of consider him his own guy.

I guess I'm more mad at Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach.

Well, apparently, he is officially a separate entity from Mario in the Mario universe, being described as a rival of sorts.

... But from whence did this chrome champion arise? Why does he look like Mario but metal? Why does he act like a robot and also an arrogant jerk? And since there's a Pink Gold Peach does that mean he comes from an alternate reality where everyone is made of metal?

... Where's my Cobalt Waluigi?!
