sprites I'm doing for fun
#31
Here are sprites of Chi Chi crying, with outlines as a bonus. Eventhough I skipped the fighting pose (because the dress looks kinda ugly and I currently don't know how to solve it), I get the same problem with this section.

Now that I am at the fighting part of Chi Chi, the spriting progress is going to be slower but I finally now how to make a GIF. In the mean time here's an organised sprite sheet of Chi Chi, GIF files I made and Chi Chi in her saiyan saga outfit.

Now I have put Chi Chi's feet apart in the front and back view,I changed her shoulders in the 3/4 and 1/4 view, she's now a little bit thinner in the side view and walking sprites and in her angry sprites I tried to make her eyebrows more seperate from her eyes.

Great! I noticed that the legs become thinner when she goes down crying, though.

Thank you Ton! I made her legs thinner because her legs are behind her knees and goes further back but I guess I didn't show that good enough. Is this better?

I'm still working on Chi Chi! It's just that I kinda got derailed. First I made Bulma, while I was at it I added Chi Chi's biker outfit from the manga, then I just had to make kid Goku and last but not least kid Krillin.

After many attempts I finally made a fighting pose with the dress's creases that I am satisfied with and I redid the legs of the crying animation hopefully it's better now. Also here are sprites of Chi Chi sitting, I didn't add arms so you can make different poses and gestures with it.

The new animation looks more natural than the old, so good job there.

Bulma looks nice, but that back leg (her right) in the biker outfit looks weird compared to the other.

Thank you very much,  with the new animation I used a reference. Do you mean chi chi, I'm not good with making a back leg in sprite size unfortunately Sad

I changed the leg on the right side from biker outfit chi chi and I made a walking animation in the front view.

the proportions in all those sprites are weird, they're lanky and have no joints. you have to try representing the human body curves and DBZ proportions first before trying to make animations.

the legs look extremely short compared to the torso and head, i strongly suggest you to either increase leg length or shorten torso size.

The head is made bigger on purpose so I can add expressions. Compared to the official artwork, the proportions of the legs and torso are not too different, I'm not going to make the legs longer I think that would look stupid. You can't make a sprite 100% identical to artwork. If I can't have some freedom with making sprites I might as wel go trace artwork. Your also contradicting yourself, you say my sprites are lanky and then you
say the legs are to short.

The animation does look pretty smooth.

As for lanky, I think he means you could shade it in a way so it can show joints. Like for example, the Jump Superstars/Ultimate Stars sprites.

Thanks for the info akumath but I get pretty confused with how they shade in jump super stars and ultimate stars. Am I supposed to shade around the lines, between the shoulder and bottom arms or just the bottom arms? Can you explain it a bit more to me?

also I can't show the knees clearly because the loose dress hides it.

Let me try, despite shading still being pretty poor on my part.

This is a Goku Standing sprite I made. There is a darker shaded color where his arm would bend. Something along the lines of that (because I thought other Jump sprites had that same thing).
