Number of people that purchase a game != quality of game itself.

A game can sell like hotcakes and still be of poor quality.

Except the game is actually of extremely high production quality, and some don't like the characters or plot.

Taste in games and game quality are completely mutually exclusive.

Duh. I'm just saying, amount of sales don't determine the quality of a game.
