SUPER FIGHTING ROOBOOOTT
MAY-GAH MAN
I remember Mega Man 8 alright. Looked into its contents a while back.
./STDATA/ contains all the sprites as PAC files. PLAYER.PAC is 224kb and contains Mega Man's (And Rush's) sprites and palettes. Observe below (2-Dimensional, 4pbp linear, reverse order).
On the top you see some Mega Man sprite, the palette chunks at the middle, and some misc sprites at the bottom.
So in a way, ripping would be easy with just Tile Molester, yes?
No.
Some of the sprites must be layered on top of each other, sometimes even with sub-tile accuracy, which is definitely not what TM nor anyone with a brain can do.
At the moment, I'm looking for tilemap tables that store the information of how these sprites should be assembled. Hopefully they're here somewhere and ripping will be a cakewalk after that.
But I don't have the ISO? What do I doooo?
Well, considering that ISOs are a bit harder to find across the internets than ordinary, say, NES ROMs, I thought it'd help if I upload the whole STDATA folder. The sprites only take 20,6 MB of the whole 347,6 MB of the disc's size, so I thought uploading only 6% of the original wouldn't be considered a too huge copyright infringement (like you'd care anyway, wololololo).
The RAR'd one takes 5MB anyway. Knock yourselves out.
EDIT: I'm also working on the level 1 boss tentacle thing guy
