That's an edit, isn't it? It looks like Redhalberd's work.
Anyway, that can be solved with a gradient, and (I don't know how this works) making it an animated .png, which allows transparency.
The actual shape shape of the movement is an arc, and you get a bigger and longer smudge as you get near the edge of the arc (here it'd be the foot).
As for the animation... It isn't a very convincing move, and doesn't seem very natural nor effective, and I have the impression that the leg that's flexed gets longer. The arms lack movement: they could emphasise it.
The effect you've done for now is not bad, it just lacks the gradient and a bit more of a curved shape. It's a good start.
