I've played my share of real time and turn based RPGs. I've come to like real time more than turn based.
Real time allows for more immersion because you have to think on your feet. You'll often have to change strategies on the fly to try to stay a step up on foes. If you dawdle or make a wrong choice, you'll get beaten, wounded, or killed...just like in real life.
