I think I see what you mean. The thing is, though, a big part of this project is to try to recreate these characters without actually tracing them. Otherwise, I would have just use the actual sprite rips instead (with maybe some touchups).

As for that bit about the feet, it is to avoid that awkward space between the torso and the back part of the front foot.
