I was thinking maybe we could merge some consoles that don't have major differences into each other, that way the console list won't get too majorly cluttered
We could have the Vic 20, Commodore 16 and the Commodore 64 be merged into one "Commodore" section (the same way the Atari does), just we'll need to label the games by their console to avoid confusion.
The Cassette Vision can be included in the Super Cassette Vision category, making it "Cassette Vision/SVC"
The NEC PC88 and PC98 as far as I'm concerned can be merged (again make sure to label the games by their console)

Then you'd get the separate systems.
I mean, it's only a 10-game difference, so you could easily find games to rip and those systems that originally had 25 games and were a main console before this change could be re-promoted back to main console status (that is until the system list reaches 40 again).
I’ve since clarified this in private but just so everyone else isn’t confused, there was never a hard limit on the length of the main list. I went in to change the font size so a longer name wouldn’t break to two lines and realized at that point that the list was looking pretty cluttered so I also changed the minimum for being shown outside of Other Systems. Those who were looking at moving all systems to the main list as a goal were misunderstanding the purpose of the system. Systems weren’t being “promoted” and it wasn’t the point to try to show them all. It was a way to keep the site organized and user friendly and to reduce clutter so with the old system, I would have continued raising that minimum as needed anyway.
All of that said, it’s no longer an issue anyway. Now, views are tracked for each console and the top 25 most popular are displayed so there will only ever be 25 consoles on that main list from here out. I’m toying with the idea of resetting the view count monthly to make sure the list stays relevant but I’m not positive that’s going to happen yet.
