Pure gray is crap. at least for nature.... use a more broenish, or bluish, depending on dirnyness.
I made an edit. can you see where one shade stops and other begins?
no? that´s a good thing, mostly ^^'
I added two shades of greyish blue. it looks and feels more natural. also note i sprayed dots. but not randomly. i did this manually, and to prove that, i´ve made some perceptible irregularities on the stone. you cannot shade like you do... you need to avail other sprites´ method of shading, and try to mimicize...
BTW, what i did in the outline only works on light backgrounds.
