Sploder, when you said "forward flip with the sword spinning around", you gave me another idea. Think at Link's up B, but faster, less ranged and with controlable angle (like Meta Knight's side B, but more fluid). What did you think?
Anyway, theres a small edit, note that it's not finished yet.

What? O.o
Well, very nice for you...
Back to the thread, I was thinking about the atributes of Roy. In meele, he is a sort of Ike, but we already have an Ike, so what about mix or intermeditate Ike and Marth characteristics? Not as strong as Ike and not as fast as Marth, but balanced. Another thing:
Marth have incredibly fast movements and air play, wich makes it more an aerial character; Ike have great damage fire based attacks; Roy is the worst at aerial combat in meele, but he uses fire too. We could make Roy based in earth/resistent attacks, in other words, he is good at the ground, have a great resistance, uses normal or magma attacks (only to difer him from Ike), etc...
For the movesets, I think that he should follow the patterns of FE Brawl characters: neutral B is chargeable and down B is counter. For a new mechanic, Roy could lose his sword after 30 uses of it, but he only use his sword with the specials. There should be a way to fix the sword, but i don't know what it can be.
The neutral B could be Flare *or* Twist Cut. Roy put his sword at his face and charges an attack. When the button is released he hops a little forward, twisting his body and releasing a slash. Looks like this critical . The name depends if we will use the attack embed with fire or not.

But Roy was here first.

Meele's Roy is just an clone of Marth, so changing him makes more sense than changing Ike.

Marth was a clone of Roy.
Just kidding. in the end it will all work out ill let you guys get back to business and stop distracting you. You guys are making great progress! keep up the good work.
I think we might be able to get away with one change to Ike; we should be able to remove his fire-based attacks, and replace it with Light, or no magic at all.
@Exez, my idea would probably be more comparable to Samus's screw attack, but with less... floatiness at the end. But if you can come up with a way to do something like Link's sword spin that isn't too clone-ish, then you can try it that way.

I'm going to step out of a spinning attack to a completely different attack.
I've taken a look at the critical hits Roy can do. I also took a look at Eliwood while I was at it. Something I noticed was that when Roy had the Sealed Sword, even though he did a forward slash, he proceeded to jump into the air. Eliwood did the same with a rapier.
I propose something like this. A quick slash forward, sending an opponent skyward and back slightly. After the slash, Roy does a high backflip, going slightly above the opponent he hit and slashes at them, turning it into a meteor smash. The movement would be a decent distance forward, and the backflip moves him back slightly.
Just a suggestion. It's kind of complicated really, but it's different.
Strive for victory. Vanquish defeat. And always pack the extra 1up.

Love what you've done, ExEz, but may I suggest the following pose:
I just thought the sword stuck out a bit too much, eh?

Roy is going to be awkward to animate if his arm is like that, however I do agree that it sticks out too far in the other pose. Maybe pull his arm closer to his waist and point the sword out?

Maybe he could be pointing his sword upward instead of down. All of the other sword users already point their sword downward (I think).

No need to make him too much of an odd ball.
Though I do think Tarvonas's inward sword direction is very unique, and fits better.
